When I was a little boy
I asked my daddy what would i be
would I be United, would i be Leeds
Here's what he said to me

Oh Grimsby Grimsby
Whatever will be will be
You'll follow then faithfully
Oh Grimsby Grimsby

Tell me Mam me Mam
I dont want no tea no tea
I'm watching the Grimsby

My first ever game was Donny at home in the League Cup. Big Lawrie’s promotion season.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I think we beat them and eventually lost to Norwich if I remember correctly

Does this mean our pre-season friendly against Donny at BP is now in doubt?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Yep. We beat Donny 4:3 and lost to Naarwich in a replay at Carrow Rd.

Yes. I was there that night in a rammed Carrow Road with my Dad and Uncle. We end up up in the Norwich end to try to get a bloody view it was so crammed. My Dad lifted me on his shoulders just in time to see our consolation goal going in.

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

I dunno, but I know when I asked the missus what the weather will be like for that match, she's bound to say it looks like reindeer

Think the home game was a bumper crowd too. 22,000 IIRC. I didn't make that game. Probably cos my uncle and grandad wanted to go to the pub first.

Yes, you are right. We were a bit late arriving to BP and had to go into the Osmond stand as our usual spot was full to overflowing
