Operation Promotion? Success didn’t come before that. It was borne out of failure.

The FACT is that the best season ticket sales in decades came after a fan led scheme, branded as ‘the worst thing that could have happened’ by the board. You can go round the houses as this thread has done but the constant is the club could do better (and it’s not down to the staff in the office, they can only do what they’re allowed to do) but it declines or alienates outside help (which other clubs embrace).

The comment about ‘why don’t you offer to help’ from one of the Fenty brothers earlier was laughable. Dozens have. People with business acumen, successes on their CVs and talent and ideas in abundance. For whatever reason those offers haven’t been taken up or people have been driven away (which other clubs embrace). That’s the clubs prerogative.

Could the club get more fans through the door? Yes. Could they make more commercial income? Yes. But they’ve proven they’re not willing to listen for whatever reason and we are where we are because of it. And as a result the yearly discussion is as boring and frustrating as it was a year ago. And the year before that.

Well said the ONLY success this Club has had under Fenty`s reign of terror is when the Trust pulled the fans together and they got behind OP and Paul Hurst put a team together the fans identified with and backed in huge numbers home and away. I don`t need to shout from the rooftops what I do but I give up a lot of my spare time to help co-ordinate and raise money for local groups and organizations. I have wasted far more time trying to help GTFC because they mean so much to me and I keep trying but it`s pointless with the current set up so I will just go when I feel like it and watch the games . The love is gone the goodwill is gone and sadly living in Grimsby I can categorically state so has the interest.

Well I can counter this by saying Lincoln City . We ran parrelel to them and started from a much higher average gate the Season before we actually gained Promotion . Yes they had a cup run which brought in much needed revenue and we never but they quadrupled the home gates through success on the field but PR and marketing dragged in huge numbers of extra fans. Town had the success when they gained Promotion they had in excess of 15k fans in London they had 25k fans on the streets of GY and CLPS welcoming them home . I don`t need to say what would put bums on seats it`s not my job .However if it where the first thing I would do is get rid of the ridiculous pricing for under 18s and charge a nominal £10 fee for a ST with a full paying adult . The football club badly needs someone who knows how to run an office/stadium/club it won`t be cheap but it will be money well spent . Write that on the back of your flipping exercise book

This is what every fornicator who comes out with the statement of how we could double our income/attendance has to say. Nobody has a clue what could actually be done, just that it could be done. The reason being is that there is no easy answer or way to do this, but it's very flipping easy to sit behind a computer and complain incessantly.

Well you could start by reinstating the best Fans Liaison Officer the club has ever had.  Which I realise would be a shame for the new one.

You know, what’s his name, thingamebob,   Oh yes I remember now.

Lord fuking Lucan.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

If the club changed it's philosophy in regards to marketing and PR AND got a new stadium, then MAYBE we could double our turnover. marketing and PR alone isn't going to double it at BP. It's easy to come out and say stuff like this, but there's no facts behind it, just some ramblings from behind a computer because you and a few others that share this delusion are fed up. We didn't have fans turn up when we were good, they aren't going to turn up because they saw a nice picture.

Other than actually being successful, what do you think would actually get more people into the ground, and keep coming back? Name the things that would actually put bums on seats without just saying that the club should be doing things.

I can't think of any clubs where supporters increased without success coming first.

How about some success then, the current shower of excrement that run this club haven't achieved much this last 15 seasons or so.

Wholesale changes at the top needed and also fresh investment required to put in place marketing initiatives based upon one, three, five and ten year strategies. Sadly, the club's has been reduced to the stage where it's got to invest in the fanbase in years one and two before it can start to take more significant levels of money off them. It's true, so many fans won't step through Blundell Park until Fenty's gone, he's a busted flush after all of this time. Not a dig, but it's a very real barrier to growth. The club needs a new broom to sweep the sterility and mutual hostility away. There's plenty that could be done, so much, but everything needs ripping up and starting again to build a cohesive picture for fans to buy into. Too much to write down on a forum as it would amount to a fairly hefty document if done thoroughly. It's not just about thinking up little schemes on top of what we've got to get a few more through the gate, it's about the club doing every single thing down to the minute details and tailoring it all to what the fans need. Accuracy, attention to detail and every action having a fruitful purpose to build up a mutual respect. What we seem to have is the club tailoring everything to how it suits the club and the fans have to fit into it, there's very little mutual respect left.

Look at the Self Select Scheme's almost non-existent take up. Most on here said it wouldn't work. Thirteen games for the price of twelve after a good idea was butchered by a fish merchant, accountant, solicitor and long serving members of staff who should have better acumen and judgement in their positions but don't. The name for a start. Why not call one The Shift Worker's Scheme and another, The Exile Package? Names that thousands could clearly associate themselves with. Build up a contactable and marketable database of both and why not 6 games for the price of 5 for god's sake? If the club are so jittery that they thought it would affect season ticket sales, they should be asking themselves bigger questions as to why and also make sure the product's good enough to keep fans coming back, after all it's what they should be doing anyway rather than thinking we better get as many season tickets sold as possible because the football's gonna be more than likely shite as it always has been while we've been in charge. The lack of self confidence in what they are doing shines through and is covered up by bluster and chastisement.

Self Select Scheme just a minute part of it and a much bigger part is attracting youngsters. We're just about the most expensive in the league and I've not seen an inkling of anything done by the club to draw the next generation in.. nothing. Just two parts of a huge picture, but because you Pen Penfras, haven't got any creativity or a clue yourself, don't paint everyone else with the same brush. Street food instead of pies? Healthy eating options? Little bits building up to an integrated bigger picture. There's plenty that can be done but the present regime are not liked enough or respected enough to have much impact even in the unlikely event that they came up with a decent idea. It needs to be someone else to re-energise the fanbase, after seventeen years the fans have no belief in them as individuals or as a group.

To say that commercial income and attendances can't be improved is an absolute fallacy, just needs to right people to do it with the appropriate skills and ability..

Fenty quitting the board and relinquishing control of the club could easily put 1k on the home gate, releasing the shackles, a brave new dawn and all that, which could more than pay for a highly qualified new CEO with a proven track record and the club could build from there..

In your opinion. You’re just another negative old fornicator who thinks if your career hasn’t been in the fish business in Grimsby, you’re not qualified to do anything.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

When you say nobody do you mean the little gang of hangers on that sit around the board room table or instead do you refer to those who squabble over the exercise book and ruler in the ticket office because that`s the tools they have to work with?

In 2019 I would be alarmed if anybody sat reading this didn`t at least think they could improve the ticketing side of things it`s a joke.

I'm pretty sure it's do-able. You could cheaply created land yards with a GTFC gift card \ membership that has the users identification.  Then when they scan the card it

a) it can check if you've been banned etc
b) reduces the amount from your card to the value of the ticket
c) can be topped up electronically

Basically similar process to a Co-op divi card.

All you need is software that can hold a database, a device that can scan the card and you have a self ticketing system.

We haven't heard any update from the club regarding season ticket sales, I wonder why?? Oh yeah because season ticket sales are probably at the lowest since records began, if not the lowest then certainly one of the lowest, what are club doing to address this? Nothing.
