Funnily enough the prospect of Embo coming back for another season was my first thought too

I have a feeling if Sunderland had been promoted to the Championship, he'd have been loaned to a League 1 club

Them not getting promoted might well have given us another bite of the cherry.... fingers crossed

I suspect they'll keep him there and blood him into their first team, they have an aging midfield and I know Jack Ross thinks highly of Embleton and if we are honest with ourselves the player he was after Xmas was not the player we saw before Xmas...

Sunderland fans will be able to enjoy the Chechatwat Trophy again. They were so keen to go to the final the season so they’ll be able to have another go. With the Pompey fans.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

All I could think of was remembering Town play in the equivalent 1998 play off and thinking that side would have played either of these two off the park?

Can't see Embleton coming back next season either. Maybe Middlesboro will offer someone as part of the Burrell arrangement.

Embleton’s contract is up and he won’t be staying at Sunderland, he’ll be looking to go to League 1 or Scotland I think

Why Scotland?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he sign another deal before he came back to us on loan,??..like I said, this is not something I'm sure about.

So, as in 1998, Charlton won with virtually the last kick of the game.

Sunderland beating Leeds in the FA Cup Final was a massive shock.  They used up all their good fortune and luck that day.  This was their Everest.  It has been all downhill since then with no other wins at Wembley.

Sunderland also lost the Checkatrade Final this season.  Last season Shrewsbury also lost both finals.

Does this make our 2 victories at Wembley even more outstanding in retrospect?

I looked on the Sunderland Echo sports.  The football  editor said that he thought that the club could not fit Embleton into their midfield next season.  He was expected to move on. (I doubt that we will see him back here).
