Pretty sure the club triggered the one year option in his contract so if any other club wanted him they would have to approach with an offer for him.

Correct, I like Davis one our best defenders, so it's definitely not in our best interest to let him go on a free.  I'm sure the club wouldn't step in his way if he wanted to move on, so he either gets his head down and then wait until the end of his contract or he puts in a transfer request, which means a fee will be needed.  Now for me if I wanted to make it difficult for clubs to prize him away sometimes you have put a slightly higher price tag on his head, like £250k.
