I’d be getting a tad nervous right now if I was a Scunny fan. I remember this article from last year:

In 2016/17 Scunny were the fourth biggest overspenders in the top 4 divisions, spending 145% of turnover on wages. Just let that sink in for a second; 145% of turnover, not profit, on staff costs alone. That’s before taking into account every other running cost of the football club. Imagine that in any other business outside of the world of football.

Incidentally, the biggest overspenders were Bolton, at only 8% more than Scunny. How are things shaping up for them right now?

There are clubs that have rolled the dice like that before and come out the other side successfully, Bournemouth probably the best example. But for every Bournemouth there’s a Bolton, a Pompey, a Darlington...and a Scunthorpe?

Seen another of his vanity projects at fairly close quarters (horses), strikes me as a kid in a sweet shop. He’s spending his way through the Wilko family fortune without much idea about how to run a football club. It might shock some to hear it, but give me Fenty any day.

Fenty made his owm money, tbf. Swann just borrows the purse off the missus to spend on his projects when he'd be better off making miniature ships in bottles in his study.

So as Swann has been covering scunny's costs for the last few seasons, and its obvious they have spent more than they've taken in, does anyone know if he expects his money back, we could call them"benign" or has he just written them off.

Swann threw his toys out of his pram at Gainsborough when he couldn't own the ground. If they do come down I would not be surprised to see them drop again.

They have a must win game against Bradford on Saturday now. Please Bradford, bring them down with you!
