ST Renewal

Given the current mood and malaise around all things GTFC I am having serious doubts about renewing my ST .I hope come August waves of optimism have washed over me causing me to part with the money BUT........Anyone else feeling the same negative vibes?

Would now be a good time for the club to try do an incentive?


renew before the end of the season for an extra 5% off? or a club shop voucher?

Just something to try pick us up and boost sales as early as possible

Well, I would say if we lose or draw the last 5 games then season ticket sales will plummet.
If it wasn't for my son (who's town crazy)I would have to think long and hard about renewing mine ..
We need something to really get our juices flowing over the summer and to be honest about the only thing I can think of that would do that is a complete overhaul of the club, starting with the ownership..

Maybe the club should’ve listened a few months back when people on here were begging them to put STs on sale then (as other clubs had been doing) and make the most of the positivity around the place.

Now they’ve got the task of having to convince regular ST holders to renew as well as convince the floating fans. Good luck with that.

Maybe for once JF's strategy of holding back sales until we all forget wouldn't be a bad idea at the moment.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm waiting to see what transfer business we do. Sorry it's come to that, but frankly I've put my money where my mouth is for too long for very little return. I'm fed up of it. I want to see Jolley given a respectable budget. The alternative is that we become a league two Newcastle, where we're just given enough to survive every year.  

It’s not rocket science folks.
We don’t need to waste money on campaigns to flog them.
Something short, sharp and powerful  should do it.

I suggest something like. ‘Target 3000’ advertised on the clubs website and maybe the telegraph.


If that doesn’t get you fired up then there is something seriously wrong 😉

It`s far too difficult to implement for the office staff. Far better to adopt the same mentality as the past 40 years cos it works really well and it suits the Club to make sure 3k seats are empty each game in case of

The club are backwards thinking in almost every department and this includes the ticket office, no incentives, no marketing campaigns to sell tickets or sell season tickets, it's the "we put them on sale and we will be happy with what we sell" attitude, there's nothing to try and sell more, season tickets could well be below 3 thousand.

The Notts County away game will be another gauge for the mood of fans both regular and floating.I had intended to go to this game all Season I won`t be bothering now sadly .I had expected a town following in excess of 2.5k to travel now I would be amazed if 1k bother . People will wrongly say oh that`s cos weve nothing to play for. No it isn`t that at all it`s because it simply isn`t worth the time effort and money going when those players are not playing to there best which is the minimum requirement we the fans expect. You will always get a degree of blind loyalty from the faithful and I admire the willpower these people have . The ones like me accept we wont win every game but we wont accept players and Managers going through the motions which is what we have had for over a Month . This Club needs a massive change of direction a proper clearout from top to bottom root and branch and the Manager needs either backing or sacking the fans deserve some clarity on where we are? We should based on support be capable of putting a budget together to challenge for the Play Offs yet we seem miles off that . The Manager has blooded some younsters and the fans have backed that and accepted this will lead to some funny results but acknowledge it`s the right way . Saturday a nothing game on paper we play a 39 year old CB and bring on Wooly rather than give these youngsters another 90 mins. Things like this lead to me questioning the Manager`s decision making I like the guy but FFS grow a pair.

Unless there is a massive surprise in the hat - a new owner - Fenty has to come out and publicly back up his pledge made at the fans forum that Jolley will be given a bigger budget that is going to make us competitive ASAP!!!

Been a season ticket holder for many a year but really need some form of enthusiasm to be injected by the club really am struggling this year to even get mildly enthusiastic on match days
I really think jolly might be the makings of this club but without some form of investment it seems like same old same old

You're not guilty of seeing things through black and white specs - you are a town fan through good and bad.
I'll be getting my ST and will continue to do until I'm too old to get to BP ( although I'm 71 now , so it may not be too long !! )

I'll be buying three again next season because I'm a Mariner. That doesn't stop me from wanting this one dimensional owner & his fellow directors to sell the club to someone who will actually move us in to the 21st century.

think there might be a few season tickets sales less next season as zebra finance no longer doing the finance option anymore so if fans pay monthly might not be able to renew maybe cant afford full price out right

If I didn't work away a lot I would buy a season ticket despite town not having a great season.  Things like bad results etc would not deter me from going to matches.  I don't get the argument of not buying a season ticket if you are able to and can afford to just because of some poor results and league standing.  Maybe I'm one of these town fans that will always want town to do well despite poor runs which I'm sure most of us do and I'd still turn up at BP.

I'll no doubt renew mine come July's deadline... I always usually pay out as late as I can as I convince myself it's the best way to make use of my money and to see Town get some benefit of upfront payment

As for your age, you're a youngster in some folks eyes.... until a couple of seasons ago there was a guy called Arthur who came week in week out to take his place in the Pontoon near us and he was in his 90s

You imagine the ups and then downs he'd witnessed since his first games when Town were Division One.

Sadly he passed on a year or two back but he kept the faith with the club. Truly a GTID!!

When you have a ST and due to the fayre on offer you decide not to bother going for quite a few games plus the ones you miss not through choice it suddenly becomes very expensive . On a tues night when pishing down like Tranmere I would more than likely have swerved that game if I had to pay on the day but cos of ST I went got soaked and watched the best game for years. The team gave everything I want to see and I would not have missed a game had I known the same effort and application was going to be applied.The Cambridge game was the exact opposite and nothing they have done since suggests they are at the top of their game collectively. I hope they go out and stuff Morecambe on Saturday and get that mojo back for the remainder of the Season for the remaining supporters who are still steadfast behind them and those who`s support has waned. A strange Season this one it`s had highs and lows throughout but all the enthusiasm around the time of the Palace game seems to have evaporated.

Wycombe pulled 5.5k for a Tuesday night home game against Charlton this week despite losing 8 of the last 9 games. Admittedly there were probably a thousand Charlton but they put a deal on "last five for fifty". Bit of clever marketing goes a long way

Unfortunately cutting prices isn't clever marketing in reality. A season full of special offers could affect season ticket take up in following seasons. 1434 Charlton at Wycombe so the promotion did nothing to attract more than the average home attendance. Our problems won't be solved easily under present circumstances. We're just in a holding pattern of waiting out for new investment, waiting out for a new stadium and waiting out for a team that can entertain and put bums on seats. How much damage has been done long term by our inconspicuous and boring return to the Football League, god only knows. And the lack of new investment in cash and ideas is slowly suffocating our club to death and we're still probably going to look more nervously downwards than hopefully upwards until there's radical change. It's not a criticism, more of an absolute undeniable fact that the current set up has a ceiling of 14th in League Two and this needs sorting quickly. Same was said a couple of years ago, we're saying the same now and we could be saying the same thing in a couple of years time. Everyone waiting day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year for the big announcement that never comes that would breathe new life and hope into the club and town.

The GTFC product is way beyond being saved by cut-price this and cut-price that. Too old and tired for the public to respect our club anymore. The only thing that will make a difference to it all will be wholesale change, not price cutting to get fans through the gates when diehard season ticket holders are turning their noses up having already paid and still can't give their ticket away. The custodians of our club have got a far bigger responsibility than probably adding 10% to MJ's already meagre budget and coming out with banal straplines of "pack the park" or "beat the boro". One of my biggest concerns with the GTFC fanbase is the age I bet only a very small % of the average gate is under the age of 40 and give it another 10 year`s of mediocrity at best our average gate will continue to shrink.

Weren't we "promised" one a few years ago that was going to make the hairs on the back of our necks stand on end..... I can't wait to see what that announcement might be?

The problem we have with a younger fanbase is that they have been brought up with the Premiersh*t, continuous televised top games and a desire to see the instant success surrounding a few top level clubs. Up until the mid to late 70's the only football fans could see was attending football matches ( apart from the televised internationals). Televised football has changed this so much.This lack of appeal is not peculiar to GTFC but most lower football league pyramid teams. Some teams will buck the trend but when you look at the home gates of most of the teams in our division then you will see we manage better than most. The club, as a whole , needs to market itself better and produce a better product but there are still many things going against us not least the fact that NE Lincs is a relatively poor underfunded area.

I do the monthly option, im saving for my first mortgage and im on my own so outlaying nearly 400 is just something I cant afford to do so it looks like this could be my first year without a ST

My son really wants to see England at Wembley. For the price of renewing our season tickets, we could get two premium seats in the second tier for the Bulgaria game, return train tickets and I'd finally be able to have a pint.

Genuine dilemma. It's one or the other.

As I said on another thread......if Mr Fenty gives Jolley the usual shoestring budget for next season, no more season ticket for me I'll just cherry pick my games.

To those of us a certain age in my case 47 growing up BP seemed like a fortress I don`t recall Town losing many games at home in my first 5-6 years of going from 79-80 onwards .Any kid who witnessed the 6 years prior to relegation at Burton won`t have seen that many home wins and again since our last Promotion it hasn`t been a great run.

The sad thing is that Mr. Fenty, as I understand it, doesn't give the manager ANY budget - he merely redistributes what money comes in from the fans. He is just our insurance policy isn't he agaisnt a bad season. Mind you, that didn't seem to go too well when we went into non-league.

Therefor if the season fizzles out with next to no interest from the fans, less season tickets will be sold so therefore less budget.

Mr Fenty has either got to invest some money in the club to make a success of it, get some new investors or leave the club so someone else can redistribute the fans income to better effect.

Take a bucket of hot water & fairy liquid (other fairy liquids are available) round your street and offer to clean your neighbours cars

Don't think I'm going to either home game this season despite already having paid for the tickets, never mind renewing my season ticket. I've had enough of them. Going to Notts County, already sorted. I'll stay in the centre for a few beers instead as I'm bored rigid watching that excrement.

Wow, that is insane.  These are the sorts of little things the club really should sort out.  What a way to treat your most loyal fans!  Reminds me of when a disabled supporter wanted to sit with a friend/relative and the club just flat out said no.  It's run by people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

I wonder if the club do any kind of business development around season tickets.  We've had around 3,000 for the last four years, but also must have a huge list of lapsed STHs as well as postcodes, contact details and purchase history for thousands more.  

Do the club bother to phone or contact those who've been to say 15 games to upsell them to a ST?  
Do they call lapsed STHs to make find out why they lapsed and maybe to at least sell a half ST or a match bundle?  
Do they have a database of Exiles so they can market club shop merchandise, or flog a stadium tour for one of our 2-3 trips a season (opening day, Christmas etc)?
Do they have a "heat map" of the locations of our STH base or have an age breakdown of our STHs?
