It has appeared a certainty for weeks now that Norwich City will be crowned champions this season and gain promotion to the Premier League.

I read this article earlier and couldn't help but note the comparisons with ourselves, opting for a left field manager who by the end of last season, fans would not have been too bothered if he was sacked. Admittedly, MJ is a bit more left field than Daniel Farke.

They sold a number of their best players in the summer and replaced them for a fraction of that income. Top scorer Teemu Pukki was a free transfer.

Interestingly, last season they scored 49 goals (less than relegated Sunderland) and this season they have been free-scoring and playing great football at times.

Proof that it is often better to stand by your manager.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't (Woods).

As ever, time will tell.

I wonder when the last time was that Norwich were 2 levels above Ipswich which is looking like what will happen next season.

Copied from the post I did on another thread.

"The comparison with Norwich is fair in one way but not in others. Farke was unpopular last season because he signed a number of very average foreign players and persisted with a Huddersfield style of playing the ball around midfield and not having a cutting edge up front. Norwich couldn't score to save their lives so similar to Town there. This season he started off the same and results were bad but salvation came when they had an injury crisis and he was forced to play 3 or 4 juniors all at the same time in the League Cup. They won and he had the sense to keep those players in and bring in more youth. It was they more than him who changed the way City play, more pace and much more direct. He rode on the wave.

There may be a lesson for Jolley there but he'd better learn it fast."

Sir Alex Ferguson, one game away from the sack...
Nigel Adkins at Hull...looked doomed in November and fans wanted him gone.

Interesting why Delia appointed Farke in the first place. It was a Huddersfield clone effort as they poached their Director of Footie and appointed an unknown German. Why? To save money. Farke was forced to sell the high earners and Maddison the fans’ favourite. The replacements were as unknown as Farke and he had no idea how to get a team to compete in the Championship. The juniors he brought in had more idea of how to do that than he did. In fairness Farke has learnt on the job and his best attribute is knowing when to leave well alone.

So that's 3 out of 92 clubs.

"Sir Alex Ferguson, one game away from the sack..."

Mmmm comparing MJ with a manager that had already won the European Cup Winners Cup plus had been offered several jobs at major English clubs before he even went to Man.U.

Nigel Adkins at Hull...looked doomed in November and fans wanted him gone

I think some Hull fans would still like him gone.

So you would have kept with Mike Newell and Russell Slade?
