QPR have lost patience at last. Anyone could have told them it would end in tears.

How do managers like this man keep on getting jobs?!?!? Mark Hughes is another one. Utterly incompetent as a manager, as proven throughout the years.
Slade in.

The game does move quickly and the fall from grace is pretty rapid , take a look at the last 10 managers connected to the England job;

Hoddle - pundit work
Howard Wilkinson - Chairman of the leagues managers association
Kevin Keegan - nowhere
Peter Taylor - Dagenham & Redbridge
Sven - last seen as Phillipines manager
Steve McClaren - unemployed
Capello - retired from coaching
Stuart Pearce - pundit work
Roy Hodgson - Crystal Palace
Sam Allardyce - out of work (rumoured to be in line for the India national team job)

Only two are still managers, one in the top flight and one in non league.....either a damning indictment of the select committee in the first place or an indication of the poison chalice nature of the national team manager position.

Some people never learn. Rumour has it that QPR is talking to Tim Sherwood now. Talk about out of the frying pan!

I think the problem is that at that level they dare not take a chance on an unknown manager. Ipswich did and look what happened.  Unless they can ‘poach’ a top manager they have to go for one that is available. And they are generally available for  a reason. Thus the managerial merri go round continues.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

But surely it'd make more sense to go for a unproven one than one that's proven to be shit!

No doubt Maclaren will end up with another lucrative position, and another huge potential pay off.

Derby hired and fired him twice!

Great coach by all accounts but not excelled as a manager for most of his career.

Will always respect him, despite the dodgy accent used whilst there, for going and having a go at managing abroad. Not only that but winning the title with a Club that had never won it before.

He's had a long and lucrative career based mainly on the fact he was Fergie's no. 2 for 5 minutes.

Trouble is most managers are " only 6 games from the sack" ( where have I heard that before) but I would expect the average time each one is at any club will not be much over 18 months, just look at the number scunny have gone through this season. I would assume sacked ones e.g. Hughes, keep getting new jobs because today the job entails more than just 3/4 hours coaching a day and a game on Saturday, media, transfers, financial contracts etc.

As I recall, during that UEFA Cup run, Middlesbrough scraped through to the final somewhat fortunately following some pretty average performances (helped by having strikers such as Viduka and Hasselbaink on the books!) and then got dicked in the Final. McClaren's only real success has been at Twente where he won the Dutch League.

He's probably a good coach, but managerially, he's not achieved much despite plenty of opportunities, albeit mostly at medium-sized clubs.

They qualified for that UEFA cup run by finishing 7th though, which isn't to be sniffed at. Mind you, that was his only top half finish in 5 years there!

This one takes the biscuit for me- Kevin Bond is back as manager of Southend. Absolutely hopeless. He was tile to the coat tails of 'Arry and got loads of 'coaching' jobs. When he got the manager's job at Bournemouth he was a disaster.
