for some reason I had a feeling that there was a fee due if Jevons played x number of games and that's why we stopped playing him. I'm probably wrong.

I recall something along those lines too. Didn't he go on loan to Hull as it would have cost us had he played one more game for us?

Could be P.F. abolished the reserve set up much to Paul Groves annoyance and tried to oust Jevons and Coyne out for refusing a pay cut.

I remember the Jevons debacle....i never liked PF.  BC was a good chairman.

I think 100k was owed to Everton.  And I don't think Jevons played for us again after that.  I was gutted.

Yeah he went on loan there for the season. The next season, he didn't play for us until November, but I can't remember how it got sorted - vaguely remember something about him giving up his appearance money?

Wasn't that Dudley Ramsden then?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Jevons re-negotiated the terms of his contract very reluctantly, I seem to recall. He had a massive falling out with Furneaux at the start of the season and basically got ignored until Graham Rodger began playing him in the reserves, where he started banging in the goals.

Under his new terms, he was free to play for the first team but Groves only began playing him in late November, on Rodger's recommendation.

Initially he was played wide left, which I don't think he was happy about, and then when Groves was sacked he was given a free role, which is when he scored those 4 goals against Barnsley.

At the end of the season he scooped just about every POTY award - plus Goal of the Season - and credited Rodger in particular for rescuing his career.

After all that turmoil I don't think anyone blamed him for leaving. I was just shocked that it was for Yeovil. He'd scored about 12-13 goals in half a season in League 1 yet signed for a League 2 side.

You could say it was in a quarter of a season, seeing as he downed tools after that Barnsley game!
