Good read on their chairman Alan Hardy this morning, quite similar to Fenty in a lot of ways -

https://www.theguardian.com/fo.....-two-football-league

Though for all Fenty’s faults, he’s not managed to publicly tweet a picture of his member, unlike Hardy this morning!

It will be even funnier if he never sent that picture to his wife!

Interestingly there is also a screenshot from Peterborough United's feed next to the incriminating picture, presumably confirming that Steve Evans is available!

Whilst not ignoring the fact we’ve had our own trials and tribulations over the years, what an absolute car crash that club is at the minute.

Let’s not forget they were spunking six figure sums on the likes of Kristian Dennis in the summer - I’d be shocked if their wage bill wasn’t approaching double ours. I can’t imagine they’d have had the sense to include relegation clauses into their contracts either.

If they go down, and it’s difficult to see that not happening at this stage, I can see real, real problems for them going forward.

Scratch that, wage bill is around £3m according to this article in The Guardian:

See that's how you officially put a club up for sale unlike us.  Atleast he's prepared to fund the club.  Should he have stuck with Nolan?

I’d have thought waaay less than that. I could be wrong but I thought our max in the Conference years was around £900k (and less than that the year we actually went up).

I haven’t actually totted up how many senior players we’ve got, but based on a 25 man squad £2m equates to an average annual salary of £80k per year or £1.5k per week. Im sure we’ll have players on the books earning that and probably a bit above, but I can’t believe we’ll be anywhere close as an average.

I could be completely wrong though.

As we are a PLC, the books are published and freely available to anybody. I've included the link at the bottom.

Although playing and none playing staff are not seperated, the wage bill was £2.361 financial year. No idea really what the playing and non playing staff earned. Maybe £1.5m playing staff?

Our last away trip of the season is at Meadow Lane, also their last home match. Could be interesting if there’s anything riding on it.

Well they will see 2k+ Town fan`s waving them bye bye. It`s a real shame but the Club have been massively let down by the owner and lack of a proper plan. The wage bill for them is horrendous and they need to quickly accept they ARE going to be relegted and offload player`s and get that cut for starters.Hard times for them but they can only hope they can bounce straight back as oppossed to Luton,Grimsby,Lincoln and Tranmere who all had a lengthy spell in the NL.I remember being Hartlepool`s feeder club what ever happened to them?

Could well be an interesting away day this one and they could well be down by then!

They still have plenty of points to play for but just 4 wins so far it doesn't look good at all

Wasn't they a promotion favorite at the start of the season??

Saw an article this morning that said Stoke's first recorded match was 1868 and they were liquidated in 1908 so this would make Notts Forest founded in 1865 the oldest club.. double whammy that for Clownty if true

Stoke, they had their Centenary vs Real Madrid in 1963 at the old Victoria Ground. Stanley Matthews played in that game.

Rememebr the Notts County League Cup tie back in 1979=80 which was where the impeccable minute's silence was heard for Paddy Hamilton, the late Town chairman. Town were inspired and beat a Don Masson led County 3-1 to set up the tie with Everton.

I did not go to that 3-1 win over Notts County but remember reports of how good we were.  The team were inspired to do Paddy Hamilton credit.

And I believe we wiped the floor with them.  Weren’t they 2 divisions higher than us at the time?

Just the one SNAFUS. They got promoted to the old First Division with that team a season or two later. We were 3rd Division when we beat them.

Rememebr the Notts County League Cup tie back in 1979=80 which was where the impeccable minute's silence was heard for Paddy Hamilton, the late Town chairman. Town were inspired and beat a Don Masson led County 3-1 to set up the tie with Everton.

My first game, hooked from that day onwards

Bobby Cumming was on fire that night. He terrorized their defence all night.

The atmosphere in the ground was quite incredible. I was in the Osmond and the noise around me was magnificent. A match where the whole ground was singing...wonder when/if well see that again.

Was it Gary Lund who scored a header from a Wilko corner that night in front of The Pontoon, or was it Wilko who scored a header from a Lundy corner. I remember the goal but not sure round which way it was!

I remember the occasion but little details other than a great display, though I'm sure I saw a Gary Liddell goal.

That'd have been the later League Cup run if anything. 1984?

You're correct. I'm getting a bit mixed up. That was the FA Cup replay in 1984 when we beat them 4-2 at BP in a replay.

Think Notts have now brought 8 players in so it sounds like survival or bankruptcy, possibly both.
Hopefully it'll take10 games for the new players to gel

Agree a very good signing but their next 5 fixtures are:

Lincoln (h)
Forest Green (a)
Mansfield (h)
Newport (h)
Tranmere (a)

So that’s a pretty tough run of fixtures for any side but particularly one st bottom of the league. These will probably decide their fate as a good result here and there confidence will soar 3 or4 points and then massive uphill struggle

They have signed lots of players but it's if they gel, having a 38 man squad is just stupid at this level.

They have to sign the right players to be able to fit in straight away so thats a lot of pressure very toxic at Notts talked to an ex Notts player the other day and he confirmed that.

I believe we used 43 players the year we went down which is some indication of the chaos. Difficult to believe they're going to play Lincoln with virtually a new team. You'd think they need 12 hours training today which will be interesting in this weather

They have signed some good players but there are so many they will need post-it stickers on their foreheads to identify themselves to each other. It is asking a lot to gel that many into almost a brand new team with their fixture list and the very short time for training and organising.

If they do go down though there could be some bargains for us to pick up in the summer!
