If you ever whatch the goals express on Sky at 6pm Saturday evenings, they show the foul that leads to any penalties, some of those given are quite astounding, they seem to give them very easily sometimes.

Immediate three-match ban then

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Having looked at the TV footage again and again and paused the video at various points as McKeown made the "tackle", I cannot believe Town bothered appealing the red card. Under the current rules (and how they are interpreted) it was a red card for a dangerous tackle all day long and an appeal was a complete waste of time.

1) McKeown didn't play the ball with his feet (or leg for that matter). He played the ball with his backside.
2) As he completed the "tackle" both feet were out of contact with the ground.

I appreciate we're all disappointed with Mike Dean's inconsistent performance on Saturday, but this was one of the few key incidents in the match he actually got correct. It was a red card for a dangerous tackle.

I would point out though that I thought the Lincoln City goalkeeper should have been sent off in the first half. He raced out of the box when Wes Thomas was chasing a through ball and kung-fu kicked the ball clear with both feet high in the air and therefore not "in control".

I'm not even going to bother talking about the elbows.

I agree totally with Golly. Macca jumped into the challenge with both feet off the ground. No players are allowed to do that anymore. There was no chance that it would have been overturned!! A stupid appeal!!

Although relatively untested, anyone else think that Russell did ok when he came on? Not a bad stand in to have and his kicking was noticeably more secure and accurate with a flatter trajectory than Macca's..

Lincoln were offside but he pulled off a smart acrobatic save to prevent a goal in that move. Seems poetic that he will be starting tomorrow night against his former club. I'm sure I read somewhere that he and Cooper don't get along too.

Why bother appealing against a one match ban? Ridiculous decision by the club. It’s one game ffs, we now lose him for three. The FA were never going to overturn.
