You have to feel for the hundreds of Burton fans that look like they are going to miss one of the biggest games in the clubs history by being stuck in traffic on the way to their Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46816411

If they want to stay in the tie they'll have to get an away goal.

Do City really have to embarrass teams like this?
After going six up you would have thought they would ease off a bit? This is just cruel.
Mind you, if we were eight up at Lincoln I'd be calling for more.......

I agree with Ron. Did they really have to carry on battering them. I know they have a winning attitude but I’ve gone off them a bit. Not that I liked them.

Does this put us ahead of Burton on conkers rules (only losing 1-0 to the team that beat the team that beat them 9-0)?

Police rounded a few of them up a few hundred yards from our house, (not Burton fans). It looks like M6 is flowing ok now but the blue flashing lights up down and everywhere still At there wont be the queues to add to the misery of the result.

Guardiola is a winner, I would imagine he wouldn't be too happy if the players eased off.
I can't remember what game it was but a few weeks ago, he had a stern word with Sterling on the pitch at the end of the game when he was showboating.

Sorry but city did the right thing....they played a full strength team, played their style football, simple as that .. With all the wittering about clubs playing weakened teams and not taking the cup serious, then city play a full strength team and people still moan...well I'm sorry, but well done to Pep...

Agree with above, unfortunately this is just a brilliant team showing full respect to a much weaker team
The players will feel awful now but tbh they’ll probably be able to look back and laugh, and enjoy that they got this far, and be happy to be able to talk about playing against great players like silva and de bruyne

Have to agree with this. Also worth considering......what a chance for City to have some competitive finishing practice for their forward players. Probably better than what they'd get in a training session. Why ease off when their strikers are getting shooting practice like that? G.Jesus might get one chance in his next league game but be sharp and put it away after scoring 4 tonight.

The really bad news is that an away goal would not have counted double anyway.

The M6 traffic chaos was caused by a lorry stopped/caught full of yet more migrants.....it seems there is now panic to get into England before Brexit.

If i were a Burton player, i would rather lose 9-0, than a patronising, let's take it easy on them 5-0. Pep and his team showed respect to the competition.

I suspect there's a bit of a nod and a wink being given by the French (and maybe Belgians) to the migrants, or rather turning a blind eye.

That's good news. Means if they concede an early goal at home that they'll only need 10 to get it to extra time.

Honestly, if Town were in a semi final at Man City, how many tickets would we sell? I cannot believe Burton only sold 3000 tickets for the biggest game in their history! Looking at the Man City fans who've not bothered turning up for this competition all season, I'd imagine they would have given 10,000 tickets to the away team if they'd asked for them. To be fair to us and maybe other clubs like (cough) Lincoln, we WOULD have asked for them. Shows you how well Burton Albion have done over the years punching well above their weight, size-wise they're a League Two club at best, maybe even conference.
As for the scoreline, I was saying to someone the other week that Town would be hammered out of sight if we played Man City or Liverpool right now because they're THAT good, but 9-0?! Wow. I'm not so sure the Albion fans will turn up for the home leg either now........

We took 5000 to Highbury in 2001 for a League Cup midweek match against Arsenal, which was good going considering the distance and the fact that it was a midweek evening fixture.

But on the plus side if Burton win the second leg 10-1 it still goes to extra time and penalties........
