That was my first thought on viewing him.

Cheapside has now got a load of Soviet era training equipment in the gym.

When asked about potentially facing up to Matt Rhead at Lincoln next week Öhman is fearless. “If he dies, he dies” Ludvig might have said.

The agreement could have been his wages, terms and conditions or his housing/lodging.

Well, I can only imagine the lad is going to be feeling a little underwhelmed by his unveiling following his welcome in Japan at Grampus Eight (bang on 50 minutes in):

And no, I've absolutely no idea what's going on here.

I get that and trust MJ but when I saw the general positivity I thought they may have known something more. Bear in mind a lot of people were excited when Dixon signed (not by MJ of course)

Realistically, no one on here knows anything about him and there’s relatively little on the internet to draw from either.

What I would say, is that he was signed by a J-League side not so long ago and it’s by no means a tinpot league, with some sides getting crowds of around 40,000. Grampus Eight, Ohman’s former club, famously signed Gary Lineker from Spurs back in the day and their current squad includes Brazilian international Jo (formerly of Man City game).

The likes of David Villa and Andres Iniesta also play over there. Clearly, they’re very much standout names but the league obviously has money and you’d expect the general standard to be some way north of League Two.

The fact we’ve paid a fee and signed him on a two and a half year deal would suggest Jolley has a high opinion of him. And, yes, I know, Serge Makofo does spring to mind...

That was fking ace.....luckily i am fluent in Japanese and will translate into GY....in a nutshell....
the little fella came out and announced it was a pre season fans forum, the bird laid down the rules stating only pre submitted questions would be answered and no questions about flasks would be entertained...a short inspirational video of how much the club is connected to the local community with kids from Strand Street school shown pinching a pair of boots off one of the players.....the club solicitor came on and showed a powerpoint ( pre prepared by Russ ) with the clubs ambitions for the season before telling a fan to shut up.....new sponsors were announced, Nicoles, Micks 2nd Hand Car sales and Harry Wainman Sports.......a short set played by Orphan Boy ...before the new Bukta kit was unveiled and some new players introduced ...Martin Butler up first who stated that being in a foreign part of the world wasnt an issue for him as he loved travel......other players were asked how their move came about and what kind of player they were ,while the guy stood behind them made lawnmower noises....finally Ohman was asked if he knew any of the language and he replied "fish and chips and dont forget the scraps" and asked "does anyone have a spoggy" for which he got a standing ovation.

That was fking ace.....luckily i am fluent in Japan and will translate into GY....in a nutshell....
the little fella came out and announced it was a pre season fans forum, the bird laid down the rules stating only pre submitted questions would be answered and no questions about flasks would be entertained...a short inspirational video of how much the club is connected to the local community with kids from Strand Street school shown pinching a pair of boots off one of the players.....the club solicitor came on and showed a powerpoint ( pre prepared by Russ ) with the clubs ambitions for the season before telling a fan to shut up.....new sponsors were announced, Nicoles, Micks 2nd Hand Car sales and Harry Wainman Sports.......a short set played by Orphan Boy ...before the new Bukta kit was unveiled and some new players introduced ...Martin Butler up first who stated that being in a foreign part of the world wasnt an issue for him as he loved travel......other players were asked how their move came about and what kind of player they were ,while the guy stood behind them made lawnmower noises....finally Ohman was asked if he knew any of the language and he replied "fish and chips and dont forget the scraps" and asked "does anyone have a spoggy" for which he got a standing ovation.

Not being a damp squib cos I love a new signing, but does anyone have any evidence suggesting Ludwig is any good?

Well he played for jolley at Eskiltuna alongside fox so mj knows exactly what he's getting and I suspect he's been after him for a while. He was also capped by Sweden at 2 or 3 age group levels which suggests he has something, as is the fact that Grampus8 who were in the top division in Japan signed him
The worrying thing is his last 3 years record is relegation after relegation after relegation

2016 Grampus8 (12-28,000 crowds) - bottom Japan's top division
2017 Eskiltuna (c.5000 crowds) - relegated from swedes top division
2018 BK (2000 crowds) - bottom of swedens top division

He does like to get a yellow card as well - in Japan he managed 7 yellows and 1 red in 13 games. In jolley we trust........ (Let's just hope he's more fox than Robles)

Well if it's the Ludwig I read about, I don't know how good he is at football but heard he's a brilliant pianist and if we shout abuse at him it won't matter coz he's as deaf as a haddock.

Welcome Ludwig.

Well, I can only imagine the lad is going to be feeling a little underwhelmed by his unveiling following his welcome in Japan at Grampus Eight (bang on 50 minutes in):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qKHtlBwxo4&feature=youtu.be&t=3021

And no, I've absolutely no idea what's going on here.

Christ on a bike he's going to be a bit underwhelmed at our unveiling after that lol.

I'm really not happy about this signing. It's not about nationality. I just don't think we should sign anyone who uses the phrase "project". In fact in my book they are second only to "fans" who wear half and half scarves in the "what's wrong with modern football" stakes.

Based on What? He's 27 and played little over 100 games due to a career riddled with injury problems. I'll give him a chance but certainly not overexcited

Not only that, people keep missing the bloody umlaut off the O (although it's been put in the thread title now).

Is his surname pronounce Errman then, though I can't say I've ever seen an umlaut in Hull.

Yeah, they're all Swedes in Hull. Or turnips.

Google translate pronounces it Errman as you suggest. O-man without the umlaut. Which is a shame because we could otherwise recycle the Omar Bogle song you came up with.

Funny how all of a sudden we seem to have a glut of available centre halves. Davis will be available with presumably at least one of Collins and Famewo fit again too - and now of course Öhman. Whitmore back from suspension next week too.

I don't think Davis will be available on Saturday.

The concussion protocol states they cannot do anything at all for 14 days, but then after that there are a few stages to go through before being able to participate in full contact stuff. Effectively it's 19 days before the player can play in a match again.

his name does lend itself to a reworking of the Omar Bogle / Blur  song....probably our best modern song.

Didn’t realise that - frustrating if so as Saturday will be the 18th day.

Either way, I can’t see Öhman starting just yet (though I imagine he may get a place on the bench). It’s possible we may see Ring though in the event Hendrie has to fill in at centre half. Looking forward to seeing him play; hopefully it works out better than our last Scandinavian left back.

Without the umlaut it would be spelt Oehman. The ö or oe is pronounced err. Certainly the case in German whether that rubs off on to Swedish I dinnar

Re: Whitmore. The FA suspension list was inaccurate prior to the Palace game. It said he was banned for 3 matches, but the ban end date was listed as 05/01/19 (which was only the 2nd match). He is 100% banned for Saturday despite what the FA suspensions list currently shows.

I wonder if this latest signing means that Famewo was always going back or his injuries have mitigated against MJ's confidence in his availability. When fit , he has tremendous potential, possibly higher than what we can offer. Similarly, Ali koiki was headed for better things.
Hendrie has earned the appreciation of fans and staff for his adaptability and performance levels. I would expect at least an enquiry to Shrewsbury for possible transfer. Jolley has conservative traits. He likes what he knows and frequently references 'character.' This is fine to a degree, but I hope Ludvig and Sebastian also prove to have some steel to go with their boy next door features.

Re Croxton’s comments I would say that in my time watching football Swedish players are rarely shrinking violets on the pitch and thus I expect that they will be well suited to the physical level of league 2 football.

Similiar to scottish premiership id say, malmo similiar to celtic and then the quality drops more towards the bottom, so difficult to pick just one english league i’d say

Scottish prem varies wildly from top to bottom. Celtic in champions league. But tait and clay left us from non league and walked straight into a Scottish prem team. Clay has come back and again joined conference level team hasn't he? (Orient).
I think that is his point, it's the same in swedish prem with teams ranging over a wide level of English leagues in terms of ability equivalent.

I do not think you can compare Scottish prem with Swedish allsvenskan. The Swedish Allsvenskan has more different teams that can win not only one or two teams who win. Malmö came third in 2018.

1998 – AIK
1999 – Helsingborgs IF
2000 – Halmstads BK
2001 – Hammarby IF
2002 – Djurgårdens IF
2003 – Djurgårdens IF
2004 – Malmö FF
2005 – Djurgårdens IF
2006 – IF Elfsborg
2007 – IFK Göteborg
2008 – Kalmar FF
2009 – AIK
2010 – Malmö FF
2011 – Helsingborgs IF
2012 – IF Elfsborg
2013 – Malmö FF
2014 – Malmö FF
2015 – IFK Norrköping

Hard to say. The 5-6 best teams Championship I say and down to league 2 for the 3-4 worst teams.

I think they will do okay.
But maybe it will get a bit of a difficult start with the pace and their long stay from football.
We in Sweden usually have good team players besides Zlatan then.
So expect nothing spectacular.
