| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Its so pleasing to come into january in good form, to be able to just try and add a couple of quality players to the squad rather than being in a panic and overfilling the squad with a load of gambles in every position. And for any new players to come into a positive dressing room and match atmosphere, ideal timing really

So what do people think Mr Fenty will do in the January transfer window, option 1, use some of the cup money to bring in 2/3 extra players to have a go at the playoffs, option 2, bank the money as the board feel we are in for a mid table finish and wait until the summer.

I suspect it will be halfway. He'll still be worried about last year and how a catstrophic window nearly killed us. So we'll spend some cash but we won't be going all out. I suspect itll be minimum 18 month contracts. Building for the future basically.

I remember Jolley saying in the summer that he had Swedish league targets but weren't available until January. Especially with a couple knocks that we have we will probably see new in-comings. Jolley also said he is looking to off load some players in January that aren't needed or haven't played yet.

Macc are not doing too bad and have half decent form, so it looks like Campbell is turning things around.

IMO the play-offs could be a step too far but football is so full of twists and turns then who knows. I would rather he brought in 2 or 3 players who will add to the squad and set us up nicely for a promotion challenge next season. MJ has shown that he can learn from mistakes , especially the playing style and how he utilises the players he has. On match by match performances he doesn't seem to have brought any " duff " players into the squad and several have become pleasant surprises in their performances.

Speaking to a member of the press for Macclesfield yesterday and you have to feel for them. Askey fell out with board last season and both were looking to get out. The board then started signing random players before Yates joined and he too signed some random players. Many of their current crop weren't good enough for their Conference team last season. They are similar to us in that they are run by a local businessman who says he wants to sell but he wants his investment back. They started the Campbell reign off with a great result at Exeter but the first time he actually met the players was at half time in that game. You could argue the ship was finally turning before he arrived. He deserves credit for yesterday though as he exploited County out wide. In one move, their right back went from his own box all the way to the corner flag at the other end before a tackle came in and put the ball out for a throw. Late on Campbell was urging his team to push up 10 yards. I know who I would prefer to be manager of right now. Notts County are rotten to the core, with a huge wage budget and massive squad. Promotion was expected at the start of the season whereas Macclesfield operate on a shoestring budget and finishing 22nd would be considered a successful season for them. As such, they can play with a lot less pressure hanging over them.
