So today sees us face  two former mariners, and I have to say I'm bloody worried!! A midfield dictator and warrior in Chris Clements and a bloody good goalscorer in Sam Jones makes for troubled waters ahead for the mariners!! You have to question the board and the management I mean come on!? Who's idea was it to let talent like that go!!?? our loss is definitely Cheltenham's gain, I'm expecting a tough 90 mins today where town will be lucky to come away with a point, Whaddon Road is a tough place to go as it is and adding quality like Clements and Jones to an already experienced team just makes it tougher!!.........Good luck town.....you're gonna need it!!

Clements is so good he is at his fourth club in four seasons which probably says all we need to know even though he did ok for us in his brief stay.

Jones remains an enigma to most town fans, certainly has the ability but whether he has the commitment and mental toughness required is still a question unanswered for me.

I thought Clements was a bit hit and miss when he was here. I liked Sam Jones worked hard the games he played but you could see the frustration when Slade was here and kept playing him out of position.

Clements and Jones are so influential that Cheltenham are below us in the table.

On their day both players can be hard to play against and they could certainly cause us many problems but hopefully today isn't their day and it is Embleton and Pringle and co day

Didnt know Jones had left Shrewsbury....is that three clubs for him in two seasons now ?

Just researched and see he joined them til January ...he wasnt get a look in at Shrews under the new manager....joined Chelts as he thought he would be getting games....looks like he isnt doing that regularly ...on the bench and starting in the Checkatrade says something.

i get the impression now that Jones thinks that football owes him a living...3 managers failing to use him in quick succession...given he took a long time out of the game when he was released from Leeds and came back i think its definatley a mental thing with him...he certainly had some fantastic attributes when he wanted to use them but he is slipping down rather than stepping up.

Agree I think they should be worried what our midfield will do to them.

Clements did have the knack of nicking a goal here and there. Hopefully not to be repeated today.

Jones was a fantastic player who I wish we could have kept but he suffered from being a Bignot signing. Slade and Fenty plotted and schemed together to push out anything that reminds Fenty that Bignot existed and undo all the bonuses he agreed with his big signings. Suffered again when the manager who signed him left Shrews and got dropped like a rock. I think like anyone who was around for Slade, Jones was sick and tired of playing for us even though he gave it a go at first and was the only player scoring any goals.

Clements was bang average for us and pretty much anyone he's played for since. I don't think he was a particularly bad player but not one that I'd be scared of us playing against. We have signed better midfield players since he left.

Came off the bench though to win the penalty that decided the game

Pity Jones didn't take it himself though as I reckon McKeown might have been able to psych him out, especially as a few of his pens for us were less than convincing

Clements wouldn't get into our current midfield, liked Jones a lot and sorry he left, in the glass half full culture that MJ has brought to Town he would have grown.

Move on
Nothing to see here!!

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
