The good thing is it's an extra incentive to make players join. It puts the club in the shop window more. Hopefully, there's a Swedish striker or two watching the draw tomorrow and thinking beyond our current league position.

So, would be be better drawing the lowest ranked team at home and having a decent chance of a 4th round game ?

If we get drawn against a top club the gate money would be good and maybe on telly so more money from that,

BUT

A good chance that we would lose,

So better to be drawn against a team we can win so another £134,000 into the kitty,

Then have a great day out against a top club in the next round.

We’ve won £90k in prize money so far. Not massive money in the grand scheme of things but in player terms thats a fairly decent wage for a player at our level. Although I am led to believe that club infrastructure is the priority with any prize money this season and Mr Day’s comments on Look North on Friday confirmed this.

I expect that's more like 2 players wages for us. Not many clubs have players on nearly £2k a week at this level.

The money is nice, but the home gates have been quite low the last couple of weeks, so there's a good chance we're below budget and this is just filling the gap. A big team away would fix that, but there's only a small chance of that happening.

IF the board have set the budget on anything above 3600-3800 gates they want shooting!

We are averaging 4500 so that has to be well over the budgetted figure

Exactly my thoughts.  Man Utd away is the big money game.  You go there and you're guaranteed a million, minimum.  Many a club have sorted their finances for a few years based on going there in the cup.  Guaranteed main slot on TV too.

The only other teams from the 92 that I've not seen Town play are Everton, Cardiff and Southampton (testimonial only) so selfishly any of those would be a decent second option but I'd rather the club get the 'big' draw.

We averaged 4658 last season and made a small loss. I guess that was a small profit before paying back the loans. So averaging just over 4014 this season, not 4500 as you say is quite a big drop.

I don't understand how you can on one hand complain that the budget is too low, but on the other expect the board to budget on 3600 gates.

I think that`s the point why would the board budget for gates in excess of 4000 what are they basing their numbers on? Realistically we dodged a bullet staying up and added little hairs on the back of the neck signings to suggest we would do any better than mid table and I personally expected a drop. The slow start has compounded that though with recent home results and a massive improvement across the board I really hope we see a pick up in numbers. We have Notts and Mansfield coming up so that should see a couple of 5k+ gates and hopefully a huge cup draw the Club can show some nous and get extra bodies in for a voucher etc?

We get a decent draw at home, then that's worth (I would say) an extra £100-150k approx due to the fact that there'd be more bums on seats at each home game due to ticketing. Then there's merchandising etc. This is where the club would need to pull their finger out and make sure things are done to the best they can.
