At least 50 Police, 4 horses, full riot gear and a nonsensical exit plan making many of us walk all the way round the ground. No 'Sunday' mini Police on low ages. Massive individual and collective intimidatory presence with no announcements about crowd management at the end of the game. Do these costs come off the gate money before Town get their share?
Is it worth our SLO shedding any light? Could that clown in blue at Northampton have caused some of this OTT Police plan? Sick of a few Town fans reducing the enjoyment for the many.

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Maybe town taking 1800 fans an having a record of 96 banning orders contributed to this .not one daft fan last week caused this

As far as I understand the home club only pays for police in the ground, thus coming out of the cost prior to sharing out the profit to the 2 clubs and the FA. I assume the good people of Derbyshire pay for the rest, and guessing there would be some police drafted in from other areas, more than likely on double overtime. Then there is the hay for the horses to pay for also.

Well we got there about 12:15. Enjoyed a few beers in a friendly real ale pub ( the name escapes me). Saw no trouble before or after the match. The only time I can say that on a visit to Chesterfield.
Thought their support was very poor leading to a sh1t atmosphere. The minimal contact we had with the coppers was friendly from both sides.

Every game has a category rating and each rating has a set number of police attached to it but it is nowhere near the number that are actually there. So for a top category game the club could pay for say 10 but there would be 50 or 60 there . A low category game is 0 but there are probably 4 actually there

Policing and getting us to walk round the ground afterwards when their "firm" where on the bus home before doing their homework as they've got school in the morning was completely over the top.
Stewarding was pathetic and their inability to get people to sit in a seat rather to stand in an isle nearly led to a serious accident when we scored our first,

We take a cut of the gate receipts, not a cut of profit after costs.

Indeed so we waked away with 45% and their 45% was shared with Derbyshire Constabulary, it could have been oh so different.

Really? 22. PROCEEDS OF MATCHES PRIOR TO THE SEMI-FINALS (a) The net gate receipts due from a match (except replayed matches in consequence of a breach of the Rules) shall be the total ticket sales for the match less VAT, the travelling (and possibly accommodation) expenses of the Visiting Club, the fees and expenses of the Match Officials, and other match expenses allowed under the Competition Rules (which include costs relating to gate attendants, turnstile operators, stewards, weather reports, police charges, floodlighting in accordance with the Competition Rules, contributions to the costs of First Aid Helpers and any costs relating to clearing the ground of snow and water provided the Visiting Club is consulted beforehand on the approximate costs). Any shortfalls in receipts are the responsibility of the home club and are not to be shared. The Professional Game Board shall have the power from time to time to issue instructions as to what shall and shall not be allowed as a match expense. (b) Net gate receipts shall be divided as follows:(i) In matches prior to the Third Round of the Competition Proper (other than replayed matches in the Competition Proper), the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided equally between the competing Clubs. (ii) In replayed matches in the Competition Proper prior to the Third Round, 5% of the net gate receipts shall be remitted to The Association and the balance shall be divided equally between the competing Clubs. (iii) In matches played in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper, the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided as follows: 45% to each Club competing in the match.10% to the Pool. (iv) In replayed matches in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided as follows: 5% to The Association. 42.5% to each Club. 10% to the Pool.

What is the pool? Just out of curiosity or of a 20 quid ticket price how much would end up in town s bank account for an away game? Maybe £2? The government get £4 from VAT. That should more than pay police costs.

There must still be a few of them at the FA that don’t have a pool in the back garden yet 🤨

Thought the Police yesterday handled the crowd quite well keeping things low key. Afterwards we had to walk round and when we asked the copper why and told him where we had parked he said it`s where it all went wrong last year? They had surrounded the Chesterfield mob in the Spireite boozer with mounted Police etc but not sure we needed any protection and the Police numbers must have been well over the norm for a 4.5k crowd .

What was pathetic was the inability of some town fans to sit in the seat that was allocated to them surely not difficult task. Not sure that I would put the blame on the stewards. I thought they did a decent job.

Police presence was large but relatively low key I thought, apart from the fact they didn't know where the train station was after the game and took us the wrong way.

The lack of stewarding meant there was an accident waiting to happen. When we scored the first goal, there was a surge of "fans" forward, A few were knocked off their feet, I was knocked out of my seat, and was surprised that both the police and stewards tried to push them back up the stairs. It was then that some bright spark decided that this was a dangerous situation, and moved everyone off the stairs
