I see that Howard Swain who has been doing the commentary for Hospital Radio for donkeys years has lost their sponsor and need £500 a year to continue.

The Trust have set up a Justgiving/ Crowdfunder thingy for people to donate if they can.

If I were in hospital the radio commentary would be a god send

Yes  Swain was one of my teachers at Beacon Hill,

When I saw that piece I thought he must be 100 now,

Then thought it must be his son.

Probably just me but I love the fact that Town fans are getting together to support something that helps other fans that may be going through a tough time in hospital.
Much rather that than a corporate sponsor

Town fans/Trust members come up trumps once again. Brilliant response guys.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

It’s a good cause I’ve listened to it when I was in hospital surely a bucket collection around the ground at the next home game would help . Howard Swain does the commentry and is a good guy who has done a lot for local sport over the years. He was my sports teacher at Hesling comp many years ago !!

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, I've never heard of this before but how did the hospital end up doing their own commentary in the first place?

Sounds like a lot of effort when they could have just stuck the radio on!

Howard was the sports teacher at Healing where like what I was a school boy.

He must be knocking on a bit as I'm more than 50 + VAT!

50 + VAT! That's a new one on me.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I wonder if the club allow this service free of charge or if there is a fee for them to be able to broadcast ?

I remember very well being in hospital for quite some time in the eighties and the hospital commentary was a godsend on a matchday/night. There was no Radio Hull available through the hospital radio system then. I remember Jack Swain coming round the wards giving out free town programmes to those of us who were listening.

The only thing I've seen them mentioned as trying to raise money for is to pay the line rental fee so hopefully not!
