All this stuff about young players is not new is it? In 2000 Peter Taylor was given the manager’s job for one game and picked 6 of his under-21 side to play Italy. They actually did well to only lose 1-0 to a good Italian side. Ericsson didn’t continue the youth idea straightaway but he didn’t abandon it, all 6 of Taylor’s picks did eventually become regulars apart from Seth Johnson. The start of the “golden generation”.

Southgate is only doing the same thing. Pick youths that he knows and who will follow orders. But to be fair, what’s the alternative?

Just watched Germany manage to feck up a 2 goal lead against Holland to end up drawing .......I know Germany were already relegated but the look on their faces didn't give me any pleasure at all...........
