It also denied Newcastle the chance to make English football history by winning the first twelve league games of any season. All the UK media were there to mark the historic occasion, only somebody forgot to tell the Town to comply! It was shown on the BBC news that night.

Town 'bunging up the works' as we used to do. Whenever anyone was relegated from the top division it was all "They've gone from playing the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool to playing Grimsby on a cold and wet midweek evening".
