Okay it's only our 2nd win,

But I believe he can get us out of this.

Tonight we had a lot to be positive about in my view, a great win and a clean sheet.

No pressure for Saturday then back at home.

My fingers are crossed.

He had to cope with numerous injuries and suspensions so unable to put out a settled side.

When we get most of the injured back we will  ok,

Not world beaters but ok.

That will do for me this season.

Next season MJ will be a far more experienced manager after going through the ups and downs of this season.

Think your last paragraph is the key, we are all impatient and want success sooner rather than later but we have to accept he is just a baby in managerial terms and there is much more for him to learn and improve upon and hopefully he can achieve this with town and the club benefits from his development.

To be given this time results at BP must improve as must the quality of performances and number of goals scored by us!! Particularly annoying given he did lose a home match during his reign last year so was rather hoping that fortress BP would be returning. Time yet though 😄😄

Hopefull that the worst is behind us and that MJ can get us moving in the right direction.

Let's hope we've turned the corner it's not time to get carried away let just be cautiously optimistic and begin to obtain results , clime the table move on... U T M M

It seems we are all united in wanting Jolley to succeed and I’m pleased Fenty didn’t rush to pull the trigger, as many on here we’re shouting for. Yes he has made some mistakes but he’s still learning his trade and we have to remember that he’s been hampered with injuries, poor runs like that though will only make him better I’m sure.

To go to Carlisle on a Tuesday night and win after 6 defeats on the bounce was a phenomenal result and shows us 1. That he is as mentally tough as he comes across and 2. He hasn’t lost the dressing room as a certain radio Humberside presenter was suggesting.

I just wonder if Jolley can turn this around and get the team back on track,if the vitriolic poster who have been abusing Fenty for employing a man WE WANTED
will be man or woman enough to apologise 🤔

We all hope so he is much loved away from the results -but of course it's a results driven business. We've been crippled by injuries (with a potentially star man out for the Season before it started for one) at a point where he hasn't had the few windows really needed to pad out the squad how he'd truly like.

Might be a case of grinning and bearing it affording a bit of patience for time being just so long as things don't get way too critical. I know it's tough as paying customers being served tripe at times so hopefully we can start to see a few more green shoots of the growth  and potential of his vision ala Lincoln and Franchise FC.

Then we could bear the bad days a bit more. Several losses with 1 goal and the the player's looking clueless and it's only natural that fan's will become disgruntled.

Just so long as we pull clear of any relegation scrap, lower mid-table bearable for now. I hope he can make it to January and pull some Swedish gems out his hat and then all will be well. Yes it was a risky strategy if he's chosen to sit on some of his budget till then -he could pay the ultimate price but he clearly must have thought it worth the risk.

As fans, we are spoilt and all want success.  More than wanting success though, we fear failure and dropping into NL again.

Let's not get carried away just yet, yes most of us want him to be a success but we must not jeopardize our league membership, if we are still in this position come December then he will surely have to be let go, we must not do what we did with Woods and Slade and hang on hoping for the best.

Lol you're only allowed to be negative when we lose. After we win 1 match in 7 with 6 defeats in a row you have to believe everything will be great from now on. Being a fickle fan and changing opinion week to week is the way!

Though most here will happily take barely scraping avoiding relegation because expectations are so low.

I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from one result. Yes, we absorbed a lot of pressure and had a slice of luck from the woodwork. But we conceded 14 corners and there were 24 shots on our goal. We also missed some good chances which on another day could have cost us 2 or 3 points. The biggest winner is confidence, if we can get a home win under our belts we can start getting a bit more belief.

You simply have to be pragmatic about a managers position based on results. We still have big problems; we still sit in the bottom three of league 2 and we still have no strikers, no wingers and no creative midfield players.

I get that confidence is a big thing and last night will have done the team and Michael Jolley the world of good, and we all hope it is the springboard for a better overall run up to Christmas, but if at Christmas we are still in our current position it would mean our results have not been good enough, and he would have to go.

I hope it doesn't come to that, like everybody else I hope he can get it together, but Saturday was the worst I have seen in a very long time and a backs to the wall away win should not mask the problems we have.

I think Embleton is addressing this issue. Should have scored on his debut, did score on Saturday, plus made the chance for Thomas to hit the bar, and i believe it was his through ball that played in Hooper for a 1 on 1 last night. He looks like he can cause teams problems.

a Sunderland supporting mate told me about Embleton as soon as we signed him. Reckons he's a hell of a talent. Just needs games. I think he'll go from strength to strength.

Depending on which rumour of the time you wanted to believe Bignott was either in total shock about his dismissal or had already been told before the game which incidentally came a week after a 5-1 thrashing by a local rival at home -a game in which he didn't play a recognised forward. He certainly didn't acknowledge the fans after the game-something which to be fair to him he always did do.

There's a raft of similar talent about, some get released around the age of 20, others go on to higher things but a lot of talented British lads get discarded and replaced in first team squads by overseas players so the new rules about academy players in squads can only be a good thing. Embleton played in the same youth team as the son of a friend of ours who is now in Hull's U23 squad having been released by Newcastle - another very talented footballer who may end up in L2/Conference.

personally i think we will find pringle & embleton to be more than decent players for this level. would certainly be a big improvement on woolford, who's main contribution to the game seems to be to give short 'hospital passes' to his colleagues, so conceding possession to the opposition. also amazed that vernham , with his pace and trickery, hasn't been given more of  a go. so if we could get those 3 in the side we might stand a chance of playing the sort of passes that thomas wants. we might even then see a bit of his ability as a goalscorer

I think a front 6 of Thomas, Vernam, Embleton, Pringle, Rose & either Hess or Harry would/should be pretty useful at this level.

I agree on Embleton, plus he can run at players from wide or central positions like a winger would and we know he can finish with right or left foot. Get his confidence up and get him on the ball and we'll get better. We really need to turn one of our forwards into a finisher if we are going to stop wasting chances that cost points though. Get 2 or 3 goals a game and this will compensate for our defence which, despite a top showing last night, still looks below par generally. If they've had 24 shots at goal last night and we've missed three golden chances, we've really got away with it, and we won't usually do that.

I'd add a point about Pringle. I think we need to start seeing him play and produce. He has a quality pedigree as a wide player and if he can come into the picture, complimenting Embleton as a creative midfielder, we must surely start to see better performances and results.

Agreed - if Town can play like they did in the 1st half of the Carlisle away match (with a bit more finishing quality) - they'll be around half way in the league by the end of this month.


Over to you MJ - old guys in midfield is a no-no and the last game has proved it. Let's improve with the young un's.

But according to some on here, managers don't improve, develop or learn by experience. If they are not instantly successful then you get rid and bring somebody else in! Not my view , I hasten to add but certainly some posters especially those who never wanted him in the first place.

Frustrated as we may get, we are a work in progress and so is our manager. Six defeats in a row does try the patience however and let's hope that we get a positive performance & result today.

I totally agree but last seasons bad run under a supposedly " experienced " manager ( Dinosaur Slade ) was even more trying and it was obvious that he would never get any better than he was then.
