A good, positive, honest assessment from the manager. I really hope he can turn this run around, and i still think he can, given some more time.

Sounds to me like they think Davis has done his ACL, and if correct, that's him out for the season. If he's done his medial, or a meniscus tear he'll need an op, and then at least 6 weeks rehabilitation, so either way not good. He's possibly our best centre back, with Collins looking a liability and Whitmore looking short of league standard IMO. We look to be in trouble defensively, and it's a long time to the window.

I've not seen anything to indicate Davis ought to have been starting at centre-back but he's done a decent job in various roles so it is very unfortunate if he's going to be out for a long time. Very bad luck to have two players out with serious knee problems at the same time.

I think Famewo looks to have a lot of potential so you'd expect him to be getting more of a chance in his preferred position once he's fit again.

I do wonder if we might see Fox played at centre-back at a push? He's certainly got the height and physical capacity to play the role.

At least he isn't delusional like slade, who maintained there wasn't a problem and we weren't in a relegation battle right up to being sacked.

He needs to be brave he needs a result and most of us fan`s want him to turn this around BUT I for one don`t want another Slade scenario where he is kept on long after it`s obvious he should be gone.He needs to win one of the next two games or we need to get rid simple as that.C`mon MJ

I think we need to scrap this 4-4-2 idea as I don't think Jolley has built a squad to play this very effectively. Whenever I have seen us play 4-4-2 this season I've never been convinced. Welsh and Hessenthalar got a bit overrun on Saturday, especially in the second half. 4-4-2 almost forces you to play the channels and be more direct and I don't think we have the players to play this way very effectively.

I think we are better going with a 4-1-2-3 formation. Putting Welsh as the DM. His strength is putting out fires and his reading of the game. His distribution is poor and he isn't that mobile. I think playing in the DM role plays to his strengths and would lend some much needed protection in front of to the centre of the defence.

Possibly, Hessenthalar and Rose in front of him maybe even Pringle (not seen enough of him yet)as one of them. I know he has played Woolford in the middle but I think we need more energy in there.

In lieu of having no real wingers in the squad we can try playing with two wide forwards to offer us width and who can come in to offer attacking strength.

We need to be fairly positive to ensure it doesn't just become a 4-5-1 and the main attacker becomes isolated but with 3 in the middle and the availability of width from the attackers this would allow us to remain compact in the middle while giving an outlet to launch counter attacks.

IMO this would be making the best use of the players we have in the squad and offers us strength in areas we need it.

Importantly, stick to it. Let the players get used to a system but I don't think that system is 4-4-2, not with these players.

Absolutely agree. It's a no brainer with this squad. And Vernam in for Woolford please.

My only slight point with that line up (which looks more solid than Saturday's IMO, is that, does Vernham have the pace/acceleration to play wide? I'm not saying he doesn't I'm just not sure what pace he has. Could he play in the middle and Cook out wide?

Is Fox fit? Not heard he has recovered.

Think the defence picks itself given who is available.

You think ?

"We have been close to taking points "

Have we ? Really ? We have scored 1 goal in 6 games and conceded how many ? The closest we have come to getting a point was probably Stevenage and that was by virtually not attacking their goal at all and trying to get a 0-0.

Again the "little bit of luck, rub of the green, marginal decisions" type statement......clutching at straws....we have defensive melt downs and have hardly threatened the oppositions goal over the last 6 games. ...the odd decision bit of luck doesn't outweigh that fact.

At 1-0 v Morecambe Thomas hit the bar which would have arguably won the game. Against Oldham, Embleton missed a great chance in the first half at 0-0 which would have made it a different game.

Although we got comfortably beaten in both games, we failed to take the rare chances that came out way.

That just about nails it for me....if I employed someone and couldn't get the best out of them, I'd either sack them or resign myself....either way it's a lose lose situation...

But we didnt.....and likewise the opposition failed to take many chances, as well as scoring the goals they did. Not sure who MJ was trying to kid by that statement but i am pretty sure the 3-4000 regulars have not felt like we have been close to points at all.
