Most people who invest in football clubs don't expect to get their money back, and don't consider investment as "loans".

Well run clubs will buy players for £50,000 or £100,000 and develop them to sell on. Especially so with strikers, ala Bogle. Why didn't we invest in more players of that type when we sold him for a million?

We did, Sam Jones and Jamey Osborne in the main.

Problem was 'the board' sanctioned high wages and didn't add a stipulation in the contracts that the players had to move to the area.  Then they blamed Bignot for it.

Buy 'em cheap, develop and sell.  We invested £30k in a player, he scored 32 goals in less than 18 months with us, played a massive role in getting us promoted and we sell him for £700,000.  Over 2000% profit mark up.  Even before the Bogle money we had decent success with signing talent from the leagues below (McKeown, Hearn, Pearson...).  Best policy we've ever had under Fenty and he ditches it in an instant.  Sums the club up.

Let's nail another myth..

Under Fenty the club has lost half a mill for six seasons by not being in the Football League, there's £3m. And let's be generous to John and say the pitiful performances and shambolic way the club has been driven into the ground have only put off an average of 1k fans away per home game. Let's face it, how many people does everyone know that don't go anymore? And it's not even taking into account lost income from away fans. That's say £13k per game, £300k per season, so £5m over 17 seasons. That's a total of £8m without taking into account the fact that we've not had any inward investment for years..

Which of John's predecessors have cost the club that much money, make no apologies for it and still take no financial responsibility, then boldly try to make out that they're keeping the club afloat? He is of course in a small way but only by securing it on what little value there is left in the club. The sick thing is that he's only had to keep the club afloat because of his own crass decisions and actions. As harming this club goes, John Fenty is like the ITV Digital collapse on steriods..

This should be a pinned post.

The thing is J.F has applied austerity techniques on the club and just as they have failed the country they have failed the club and more importantly the supporters of the club.

He needs to realise he cannot run a football club like you run a fishmongers,in taking up this club he has inherited a responsibility to the generations that have supported the ,. He has come in and applied monetarist policies to the club without realising it is about a communities hopes and expectations.
It is very similar to the private sector providing services to the public sector, they know the cost of everything, and the value of nothing. You need to understand that there are some assets that don't translate to the bottom line. Perhaps that is too much to expect a Tory to understand.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you give him an excuse for him to escape from the wife and kids for the weekend and drink lots of beer.

Kin ell , explains it all perfectly now, i  knew john was tight but to ask him to be a fireman the kitman a ballboy and a taxi driver was a bit out of order.

Fenty out.

Hang on, don't we now have more back room staff than ever? They must share the responsibility for the current situation. Limbrick just seems to be in charge of the tactic ring binder.

You would of thought Limbrick would have a few gems from the conference he could have bought in.

Not sure how true this is but got told at the match (half time cig) on Saturday that Fenty actually got out voted by other Board members regarding the appointment of Jolley. So "apparently" he wasn't Fenty's 1st choice anyway.

Also got told by these guys (and couldn't smell any alcohol on em) that there was a rumoured Emergency Board Meeting last week regarding Jolley's 6 month rolling contract that was up.

Anyone else heard owt like this ?

Avast, me proud beauty! Would ya mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole !!!

You'd think a board would know how a rolling contract works. Although...

No credibility from your informants whatsoever if they actually think a rolling contract was up!!
