Who's up for Saturday? Let's hope that in the next few days MJ & his team can find this high-energy, athletic formula that we were promised when the signings were being made. I hope that the higher tech sound system makes an appearance to keep us old duffers awake and that we can at last see a home performance worthy of the name.

Time we saw a team worthy of a new community stadium where the main winners will be the population of Grimsby as opposed to some developers lining their pockets.

OC...I turn up every game thinking "this is the one, we match we really turn it on and smash 4 goals in and run the opposition ragged"....but, unfortunately I tend to go home with a whitesnake sing blasting in my ears......"here we go again"...another 90 minutes of disappointment...so, positivity I'd like to have but I'm afraid it's more of a malaise that's set in yet again....

Just spoken to my brother and he's bailed. Said he can't take any more and isn't going on Saturday. I must admit that after 46 years loyal support, i'm definitely starting to waver. I'd put my chances of being there on Saturday as 50/50. It's not just the football either, it's the whole GTFC experience. The board really sank to new depths for me last season, and it still rankles.

If we can see a performance of the likes of Lincoln and Mk games, of fight, passion, commitment, then Town can start to push on again, I'm totally baffled why we haven't seen anything near these two games since. Utm

It rankles with me too but I've come to the conclusion that my love of GTFC is greater than any negative feeling towards the board. I'm hoping to be supporting the club beyond the point where the current incumbents are in charge, but it is dragging and I am beginning to wonder!

Whilst there is atill a minute possibility of a move to utopia the “immovable objects” that sit at their self created top table nothing’s changing.

Their problem is that they think small if you think that way that’s what the output generally is.

It wont work though sadly; if he has to make up any shortfall he gives us another benign loan which he expects to be repaid.

I suppose if the support was very very poor for a long time he might have a problem, but he even survived the non league years when crowds generally were much lower.

If you don't go, you just might miss a classic. I remember when we hadn't scored for 6 games and were, I think, 4-0 up at half-time at Boston. I was fortunate enough to be there and it's one of my favourite football memories remembering the joy and disbelief on people's faces. Football can be crap, disappointing and brilliant, you just never know!

I do get what you mean, I think at the moment 4 shots on target will be progress never mind 4 goals. I'll be there Saturday and throughout the season but there are days when it feels like "father and son time" as opposed to looking forward to the game.

It's been about the social side of it for a long time for me. I might have felt differently if it wasn't for the fact I haven't been to a Town game since Wycombe away.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

The proof is there for all to see, Fenty has turned this once great club into a perennial struggler, and certainly devalued the product to the point where apathy has taken root.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Missing this one. My son doesn't want to go. Hard to justify a 140 mile round trip at the moment. If I was local I'd be there. Next one will probably be Exeter.

I sometimes wonder, when they have a pre-season board meeting, if they discuss how much they feel the fans should suffer for the next 12 months.

Clearly they’ve found a format that works for them for over a decade and they’re sticking to it👍

You are giving them far too much credit for even thinking anything about the fans

Can't motivate myself for this Saturday. It's just not entertaining anymore (Lincoln game aside). Hate to say it but I need a break from whats on offer at BP at the moment. I expect a very low attendance on Saturday which should send a message to the Board. That said we will probably win 4-0 now

I’ll be there with my 8 year old daughter since I’m down for the weekend.

She’s already suffered been dragged to Darlo games this season and we’ve lost both times. Hopefully she brings some winning luck to you on Saturday.

Malaise not really but apathy and increasing indifference. Onlly having a season ticket gets me there and without no chance. Simply no longer enjoy it as the cycle of failure is tiresome. I would be happy with mid table mediocrity but we are way short of that. Relegation would be over and out for me utm

I get this, the apathy though is from the top down. The “just keeping the club going” mentality that the board have has filtered down into every aspect of the club. Despite the poor start to the season MJ feels like he’s the only one “glass half full” and I sense that’s a bit different after some abject performances from the players.

At work I often talk to colleagues about not being constrained by limiting beliefs, this applies to every aspect of GTFC at the moment I’m afraid and it’s really fukin frustrating!

Having started the thread, I'm really interested to see the responses.

I do believe that the malaise comes from within the club. There is a band of stooges (and I don't mean the directors exclusively) that are just trying to stand still. I have no doubt that they are trying their best but, recent history suggests that they are not making a very good job of it.

Is there a plan? I have my own thoughts but, again, it looks unlikely. In the interim, GTFC toys with our heartstrings and every home game offers another opportunity to be disappointed - there's four opportunities in the next four weeks folks!
