Salisbury was pretty crap, despite being fairly new. And it was in the bottom-end of nowhere miles from the city centre so had no redeeming features. Plus if was fricking cold!

Braintree was a ramshackle place with very poor away end.

In a way I'd feel a bit bad about characterising places as 'tinpot' because they are generally what you'd expect for that level. Also enjoyed going to quite a few of those places. Generally welcoming people, access to bars in the ground, some nice pubs, etc.

I won't criticise Braintree as about 90% of Town fans who were there that fateful day escaped a 3-year banning order.

Alfreton. The sloping pitch, and the turnstyle arrangement that meant you ran the risk of being crushed to death on the way out if there were more than 20 away supporters.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Saltergate has to be the worst ground we ever played a league game at

Not as bad as Donny's Belle Vue.

Without doubt Belle Vue, a crumbling empty ground and we were crammed in a cage.

I remember that game, Dale Banton scored a cracker I think, Richard O Kelly broke his leg. 1989 I believe.
