Hayes and yeading was one of my non league highlights. Away gates opened at half time - quick march down the local for a couple of pints - show tickets to gate man and back in for the second half . How terribly civilised.

Hayes and Yeading

That was ace!

Let us out at half time to the club house which was like a pub outside the ground then back in for the second half with no ticket checks. Mind you, I can't imagine that part of west London being full of people eager to gatecrash a game.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Coalville is harsh, they’re not a big side and it was ok for their level.

Even though it can fit a couple thousand in it, Welling was horrific! That concrete wall behind the goal!

Eastleigh was a metal box and Braintree wouldn’t look out of place on a farm.

Wasn't there one where the away end was like standing in a concrete gutter and the toilets were just a wall to urine up? I have some flashbacks of somewhere horrible and possibly one of the reasons I didn't do many away games in that season.

Oh what I would do to be playing at some of these grounds again, especially with some of the grounds I have witnessed us playing at over the last 6 years.

I envy you.

I thought Tamworths ground was a bit shite.

That was the first time it really sank into me how far we'd actually fallen in that first season in non-league about 6 or 7 games in, stood on that poxy away terrace watching us get beat 2-1.

I went to Tamworth with a mate from work who has a season ticket at Ibrox. He turned his head at one point and burst out laughing because there was someone stood in their garden peering over the fence to watch the match.

I'm starting to think stones and glass houses the way BP has rotted away over the years.
