I have no bias towards pundits of either sex, but in reality I usually record MOTD so I can fast forward through all of the connecting bits. I may not be an “expert”, but I think I’ve seen and played enough football over the years to be competent enough to form a reasonable view of what I’ve just seen, without a panel of ex players etc. explaining to me how I should interpret what I’ve just watched! We live in the time of the “expert”, whether in sports, news, films, etc. I guess the proliferation in this area is one (negative?) of more dedicated specialist channels, Sky Sports, BT etc. where 24 hours a day of airtime needs to be filled. Never used to happen on “The Big Match”, or “Sports Night with Coleman” * (* Younger viewers, ask your Dad)

I thought it was the other way Lee. To my mind we live in the age of the anti-expert. There seem to be endless programmes on radio and television which ask for viewers and listeners opinions - phone-ins, tweets, e-mails. The attitude seems to be everyone's opinion is as valid as the professionals'.

Fair point KM, I hadn’t thought of it that way, but yes, I guess all the multi media stuff does mean anyone can contribute to the debate more easily.

I quite like Jermaine Jenas as a pundit and I think Alex Scott speaks more sense than the likes of Shearer who regularly quotes the rules incorrectly. Don't care what gender someone is if they know what they're talking about.

Absolutely - an informed opinion from someone expert in a field is treated with suspicion as they're by default part of a system that isn't to be trusted. The problem with regard to football punditry though is that whilst Shearer, for example, might have been very good at kicking the ball into the net, he's not very good at talking about other people doing it, or indeed talking full stop. Or getting the better of Justin Whittle.

I find this Radford person extremely irritating. Yes the game is full of dinasours, men and perceived sexist comments. It a mans game. It always has been. Yes I agree In opening the game up to the female fan, The introduction of female officials and even allowing previous illegal sex workers and prostitutes into boardroom positions. But nothing will change overnight, the equality argument is correct in that it should be a level playing field for earning potential based on merit and experience. However attitudes towards this will and are going to take a generation. It is already happening. This is nothing but seeking media attention. Shut up Radford and get on with your job. Hell, if you do a good job running Mansfield they might just invite you onto Question time again.

Oh excellent, I’m sure we can crack on with “opening the game up to female fans” now that SomersetMariner has approved the idea. Even if some of those women are former illegal sex workers. Very accommodating, thank you sir.

she's a whining attention seeking cow isn't she - her complaint seems to be men have said she is gorgeous and they wouldn't have said that to a man - well obviously they wouldn't find a man gorgeous if they are straight! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
This is hypocrisy in the extreme given that she obtained her position by being the trophy wife of the chairman - he obviously found her gorgeous so hardly surprising that other chairmen do

What if it wasn't a straight man? Say some old fogey on the board of a big club greeted our John with a 'hello gorgeous'? It could make him feel very uncomfortable.

Totally agree on Shearer.
