La Liga are set to play one game a year (at the minute) in the United States, possibly as early as next year, as they look to expand into other markets. El Clasico is off the cards for now but give it time and that'll be used to entice new fans in.
I do wonder if this will give fuel to the return of the 39th game suggestion that was previously abandoned for the Premier League. From a personal perspective with the Premier League becoming duller and duller and my interest in it decreasing every year, I'm not that bothered but I feel for the genuine fans of the clubs affected.
Wouldn't surprise me if rather than a 39th game, clubs will volunteer to play some of their fixtures in different counties. Very similar to the Wembley hosting of NFL fixtures.

They’ve toyed with this before and it didn’t happen reason being nobody in say China Thailand USA is interested in watching Burnley versus Huddersfield in a good old fashioned lancs York’s derby ... the top 6 maybe have that sort of pull and maybe the likes of Everton West Ham Leeds if promoted could join that list but just to many not relevant clubs on the world stage so just can’t see it happening in any shape or form

Y'see I think they'll go with it but it'll be 'marquee' games that are picked. The big global clubs like Man Utd will bite the Premier League's hand off when they get given the opportunity to play a competitive fixture in Karachi or Delhi.
The Chinese may push back the approach of playing games over there as they're so desperate to grow their own league but loads of markets for the Premier League to get their claws into and exploit/milk.
Sadly, money talks.

The Magic Weekend works quite well in Super League. It definitely works out better for some teams rather than others because you play an extra game against one team, which is good if they are rubbish, but bad if they are good!

Just another stab in the back for us fans. Pure greed to play abroad to milk foreign markets to line the pockets of the big clubs. Absolutely nothing in this for long suffering supporters that turn up every week in all weather's to support the club or for smaller clubs in the top two divisions.

The big Premier League clubs don't need their local supporters. These clubs are entertainment franchises now in all but name: plonk them anywhere and they would still get full stadiums. They no longer truly represent the communities whose names they bear. The sooner the top 6 intercourse off to some European SuperLeague, the better.

The premier league is so distant and other worldly to me, you may as well be talking about one of Saturn's moons.

Probably the real reason why they're looking at the Winter Break. Increasingly I just think 'nowt to do with me, this has nothing to do with the game I'm interested in.' They can fook right off and play Zero-G Ball Sponsored by JMC on the 3rd Moon of Zarg for all I care. Before long they'll be fitting spectators (that term used deliberately) with sound sensors and the more noise they make in the game, the more they'll get paid.
