Excellent, sounds like the Wilkinsons owner has grown bored. Their wage bill was over £5m I think I read somewhere, totally unsustainable without backers. Lets hope they plummet and parity will soon be restored.

Not seen anything official yet but if true where do they get a valuation of £14m from, the article in the Mail on Sunday says they only have assets of £6m so how does that work?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

He was interviewed on Hullberside yesterday and was talking of extending the ground, playing in the championship, didn't sound like he was fed up, but I do believe he has a  casino in Blackpool so with the Oystons popularity over there he may be looking at buying them.

Sorry yes I meant to put per month. Obscene money to be pumping into a club that doesn’t meet it’s target year after year.

Thought they had the go-ahead to build a new stadium???

Mind you the amount of support they get does not warrant it they are the lowest supported team in league one despite being on the fringes of promotion for the past few seasons..

Think it was something to do with the club having to pay for a new road of the M181, that's if the motorway could be downgraded to an A road.

Seem to recall that N Lincs Council pulled out of the proposed development project at Seven Lakes or whatever it was called which subsequently scuppered his plans.....did read he was going to be trying to claim all his costs to date back from the council as the agreement was in place and he had accrued costs.

Ched Evans nailed two past them, didn't even realise Fleetwood had signed him till now, that's his 4th of the season already.

If there’s one thing more embarrassing in football management than being 4-0 down at home inside 30 minutes, it has to be getting schooled by Joey Barton.

Combining the two - now that’s a doozie...

Swann puts on £3 million of his own money cough cough.
He runs the show he bought Margetts off us just went to his manager here’s a striker that never featured and the player ended up tweeting how bored he was not playing.
So I can see he won’t stand for anything like what’s happened to them.

I don't know the ins and outs of their circumstances, but you can genuinely see things spiralling very quickly for Scunny if they're not careful. They've been averaging crowds about in line with the bottom half of league two despite years of relative success and over-acheivement and you'd have to imagine these dropping very quickly if things started to turn south (even more so if they were to get relegated to league two where away crowds are probably around half of what they are in league one).

Falling crowds and a wage bill approaching double their turnover (according to the recent BBC report) would be an absolute recipe for disaster if the financial propping-up of the club was to suddenly cease.

Heard whispers of this for a while so not overly surprised. However, while I’m not up to data with the price tag of average League 1 clubs, the figure reported does seem excessive. Although when contrasted against the reported cash injections then perhaps a somewhat accurate representation. Very little financial incentive once the passion wears off, similar to us in some ways.

Can’t help but think the desire to sell up represents the state of football within N.E. Lincs at present. Alive and kicking but without pulling power either on or off the pitch.

Oh and hi, first post!

Despite huge sums pumped in by Swann there is little interest in football in the Town of Scunthorpe. Barely 3000 home fans this evening.

Giving Alexander huge spending power nearly led to promotion but it was a huge gamble, and one which was unsustainable

Imagine a division with us, Scunny, Lincoln and Hull all in it. I'm not sure whether that's ever happened in history before but it's not beyond possibility that it could happen next season.

Would certainly keep the old bill busy, that's for sure.

Town, Hull and Scunny in league 1 would be bliss. Just like the old days.

Has it ever happened? I remember 71-72 when is, Lincoln and Scunny were promotion rivals.

I’m friendly with one of their academy coaches and although he didn’t give much away I got the feeling all is not well at glumford park

After last night to a town little more than a village,I hope they have got private health insurance  How on earth can a team concede 4 or 5 goals at home at the start of a season

Bliss would be Scunthorpe non-league !!!

You never know. I doubt many Chesterfield fans the season before last thought they'd be kicking off in The National League this season.

If Swan sells his stake in Scunny, he might well just look to another local club to invest in.

Any idea which local club is available at the right price that is well run (financially) and has a good level of support should they do Well?

The rumour in Scunthorpe is that he has been siphoning money out of the club for some time. Currently, the sacking of Alexander looks a strange one.

just watched the highlights myself....quiet as a mouse apart from the odd bout of booing...Scunny defensively looked non existent......mind you hats off to them for one thing.....at least they didnt open the whole stand behind the goal for just a handful of away supporters but instead using a section of seating in the side stand.....they might as well do that for their home end as well now

Steady as you go Scunny, you're at a crossroads now in terms of management choice. Choose the wrong way and everything is in place for a disastrous spiral down into non-league, accompanied by debts, leading to poor player signings and ever falling (?) attendances. That's how much is loaded onto your next management choice.

I suggest Russel Slade

One club he would love to manage, a safe pair of hands, knows league one, good contacts with players etc etc.
They need to move fast though
