Should we expect Peakes Parkway to be our new home or should we,

What new stadium???

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

The whole premise of this thread is where we would like our new stadium to be built, we know it will never happen but lets all dream and join in...

I  think off Freeman St is ideal to help regenerate the area.  Make it a Community Stadium,  knock down more derelict stuff for parking and other sports facilities.  Put conference room, large bar, gym, restaurant and you have 6-7 day revenue stream.  Railway station on Railway Street and use park and ride from A180.
I think PP will be declined given how quiet it’s gone.

I have zero faith in the current regime to bring anything to fruition.

If by miracle they did, can you imagine what it would be like? Cheap as chips, with every conceivable corner cut. It would soon lose any novelty factor because the same problems with the people running BP would be magnified at a new stadium.

Don't get me wrong - I would love a new stadium but I think basically the club is on hold until the current ownership gives way to more professional, forward thinking people who have the necessary finance and skills sets to move the club forward.

In the meantime, I would prefer Blundell Park to be given a new lease of life. I am not bothered about the downsides to that at the moment as it will be a long way into the future if we ever get a new stadium anyway.

The stadium saga continues.
I am as frustrated as others with the lack of information coming out of the club / trust relating to the relocation. I keep telling myself its down to not wanting to wind up the Nimby's (Give them a snippet of info and off they go!!). Didn't Jolley say at his question and answer night that he had been given an update on the new ground but he didnt feel it was his place to pass on the information at that time? So hopefully something is happening.

Interesting that the majority polled so far believe the Freeman Street area is still their preferred location. I agree, although I have openly supported relocation to Peaks Parkway. I think it would be great coming over the flyover and seeing a completely redeveloped area with new shops, housing, restaraunts and of course a state of the art stadium. What a boost to the area and the Town. Something we could all be proud of.

Oh, and off topic I know, but I still have every faith in Jolley that he can bring success. Keep the faith

Let's just get good at what we do, and make the best of what we've got. Create some magic that creates the demand. Making it a real community club would help.

Jesus I can't imagine anything worse then Freeman Street to be honest, far to rough, loads of pubs for home or away fans is the only good thing.

For me it's Blundell Park or Peaks Parkway.

For me Blundell Park is good enough for League 2 / National League.

Got told by Mr Fenty during council elections the only thing holding it up is a solid commitment by NE Lincs council .

As he is part of the council he has only himself to blame.  The Conservatives were up against one of the worst labour councils ever at the recent elections and they couldn't displace them. Should have tried harder

If it were done properly, by the right people and built in the right place (Freemo if you ask me) then it would completely rejuvenate the club and bring us into the 21st century and we’d finally have a great selling point when trying to sign players as we would have state of the art training, sport science, strength and conditioning and medical facilities. However, with us as we are and the fact Fenty and his mates have made zero progress in any field, in fact we’ve regressed worryingly in most departments, while they’vs been in power it won’t happen as the man is impossible to work with as he is a complete control freak. Forgive my pessimism despite my youth but I fear it is the truth.

It would be far far more expensive to build on Freeman Street area [demolition costs etc. above and below ground would be astronomical ] than on virgin land . Different aspects of the programme would have to be separated etc.

As for the required housing being built at different locations I wonder who would benefit ?

Is there an appetite for an out of town location such as PP any more.  More restaurants in the new cinema and possible Garth lane redevelopment could probably provide far more leisure/retail opportunities than the area can support.  Cleethorpes is going to undergo some more development as well. I think the stadium has missed the boat again

A smoke screen. The thing that is stopping it is the lack of money. If there was enough money in it for developers, they would have made it happen. No such scheme has been put forward to the council.

Everything the council can do is in place. They've identified and made available the land, supported by those site surveys the other year, the stadium is in the local plan. The reason it hasn't progressed is because there isn't a scheme which can fund the stadium and make the developers enough profit.

Enough time and money has been wasted on this by the club.

I voted Freeman st but the cost of developing the whole area including a new stadium would be astronomical. Sadly, Peakes Parkway seems to be the only available choice to build it, if it ever does get built.
