Perhaps they should get some advice from Bignot. He had no problems signing players.

And Slade had no problem getting rid of them - pity Osborne, Jones & even Yussuf aren't still here.

I don't feel that our problem was not signing players on the last day but not signing players good enough throughout the window. Admittedly we had to get rid of garbage before we could get fresh but I don't feel M.J. has really been successful in dealings with his signings. Does anybody really stand out as a great signing even for league 2 standard. I thought we were going after a bit more speed-don't see it in this present squad. I think M.J. will eventually transform us but hope we don't fall too far behind before we become good.

I think Hessenthaler, Welsh and Vernam will all prove to be good signings for League 2. Whitehouse would have been a decent signing too although probably not to the extent that some were bigging him up on here. Cook isn't a bad player either provided we can get the best out of him. Russell is almost certainly an upgrade on Killip which is how he should be judged.

I am less convinced by our defensive signings but equally they're probably an upgrade on Clarke and Osbourne. The one that does strike me as a bit of an odd one and I'm far from convinced he'll prove good enough is Robles but I haven't seen him play yet so I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

He's a pale imitation of Podge. Can hustle defenders and links well but not sure about his heading. No real strengths but seems hardworking.

You want to remember who gave you his season ticket so you could get Braintree tickets

?? I have absolutely no idea who you are, nor did i go to the Braintree play off match.

I'm not sure why you got so offended, but my point still stands - you said Hurst started the season without a recognised striker, i said you're wrong.

There is another user using name Samg sorry must have confused you.
You actually said i was talking shite bit different from saying I am wrong, tell me then why Hurst signed Vernon as a last minute panic buy.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you give him an excuse for him to escape from the wife and kids for the weekend and drink lots of beer.

Ah no worries - different user.

l don't know what you're getting at...You said he had no recognised goal scorers. He had Bogle and Jackson...yes, he also signed Vernon. I'm pretty sure Vernon was not brought in for his goal scoring prowess (we had Bogle for that!)...he's never been a prolific goalscorer. He was brought in to do a totally different job. He has attributes that neither Jackson, nor Bogle have. and vice versa (ie they can score goals, he can't.)

Just because you play up top, does not mean you have to bang in 15, 20 goals a season.

Thinking about it-if we sign loan players in this window from a higher league it could be more beneficial to us than  permanent signings both financially and a better quality player. We would also possibly have spare money for the January window.

Sam Jones to Dundee to put that one to bed for good. Him going to Shrewsbury has turned out to be such a pointless and infuriating transfer on reflection. No benefit for any party involved really. It depresses me that a combination of shite man management and terrible luck has stripped us of a chance of lining up with Jones, Osborne and Whitehouse in the same team.
