Some good news to come out of yesterday, the GTFC U18's hammered Dutch 2nd Division side, F.C. Dordrecht. I know its early, but do we reckon any of these could be coming up to the first team this season? http://www.gtfcacademy.com/teams/197420/match-centre/0-4071901

Nah, I'm afraid our academy and its record of bringing a decent batch of lads through together is abysmal. Sadly most of them will have been released by then. Only 2 or 3 will get contracts and won't get picked for the first team (or if they are it will be out of position) for ages

As we, and probably most 1/2 league teams, bring very few from the various youth teams into the first team is the cost effective. I believe we get some money from the league, but put against the cost of coaches etc is it basically a waste of money.Most of our new signings are free on 1/2 year deals so it's not like we would be saving on transfer fees.
