The reason for asking is that I never get any reply when contacting the club by mail.
I have now sent the club a mail for the third time - every time it has been concerning different matters, but this time I feel I need a reply.
I may be too quick here as my last mail was sent on tuesday, but when I never got a reply on my two previous mails I feel a little unsure if this one will ever be answered.

Every time I send a mail to the club it is nothing I do lightly, but it is because I want, or think I can, help the club in some way or the other.
It worries me that no-one sends me any reply, and I wonder how many others are experiencing the same? If it is just me, then so be it, but there could be lost opportunities for the club if several other people experience the same as me.

Now, there could be a perfectly good reason for why no one is giving me any response - I can think of several:

1. My mail goes right in the trash mail. It happens - that is why you should check your trash mail once in a while.
2. As an Norwegian citizen, my English may be hard to understand for those who possibly read my mail.
3. No one checks the mail or feel they have the responsibility for it in their job description?
4. My questions or suggestions are too hard to answer - so it is better to just let it be and hope it goes away.
5. They think that I am mad. Please stay away and don`t give me any ideas by answering.
6. Other?

For those who wonder - this time I have sent a mail to academy-recruitment@gtfc.co.uk , but earlier (in 2013 and 2017) I have sent mail to dale@gtfc.co.uk without any reply.

Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

Best wishes to any and all Grimsby Town supporter - this season will be much brighter than the last!! Up the Mariners!

No offence intended geir but I'm going for option 5

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Probably a combination of 3 and 4.

I suspect also 7 is at play too.

7. The club, despite the best efforts of certain individuals, have an attitude that the fans are an inconvenience rather than an asset.

We do but he blocked a variety of fans and only speaks with chosen fans!

If you do get a reply it will probably say:
What kind of Norwegian are you?
Are you looking forward to reading this reply?
How did this e-mail come about?

Definitely not number 2 Geir, but could be any of 3, 4 or 5. Could maybe try going via the Mariners Trust?

Excellent idea Pizzzza. E-mail enquiries@marinerstrust.co.uk and I will ensure it gets to where it needs to be at the club.

You must remember that to work at GTFC the minimum requirement in some areas is an IQ no higher than the plant in Fenty's office

Is it possible that they think you are Icelandic rather than Norwegian if so I suspect your messages are probably instantly deleted

Tweet Michael Jolley, he's pretty good at responding.

That'll be beaten out of him soon & he'll learn this is not the Grimsby way...

I`m more than a little disappointed to read this thread, I can only assume that there is no one person within the club that reads your mail and has the decency to give a reply.

Rome was not built in a day and in our case we have not started digging the foundations yet, good luck with your future attempts of correspondence, maybe Sonic could assist?

I wouldn't bother sending mail as it can easily be ignored.  If you wrote it on twitter (if you have or used twitter) its in the piblic eye and may force then into an answer.

It is just incompetence of the highest order I would think.

I don't think they see the fans as an asset at all; the fans pay far more than Fenty ever did/will do but in his eyes it is his club.

You can tell that is true by the way it is run in his image.

Never mind, none of these things will change whilst Fenty is there, but the season is upon us and lets hope we get success on the field to kick start better times ahead.

Which is a massive worry. It's simply eggs all in one basket. We have a good campaign (and let's hope we do) then Jolley will be a man in demand. Everything he's doing here speaks of a project rather than using us as a stepping stone, but he'll be ambitious and how long before he gets drunk off with the club failing on absolute basics like this.

How long does it take to answer an email? Seconds. Pathetic.

I did have John Fenty's mobile number,

BUT

Deleted it when he said " Do not bother me again "

That was after he insisted I rang him and he said " call me anytime "

Am I the only one here thinking the e-mail address that he sent it to wouldn't have been relevant to his question? The person he has e-mailed may have forwarded it on, or as he even says, it may have gone into the spam folder. Also, this is 3 e-mails over the course of 5 years that he is complaining about.

a 10 second search on google found this:

Enquiries: webmaster@gtfc.co.uk
Accounts: accounts@gtfc.co.uk
Stadium Safety: safety@gtfc.co.uk
Player Recruitment: player-recruitment@gtfc.co.uk
Academy Recruitment: academy-recruitment@gtfc.co.uk
Supporters Liaison Officer – Adrian Merrikin - slo@gtfc.co.uk
Charity Requests: charity@gtfc.co.uk

Unless the query was about academy recruitment, try sending the e-mail to the first one on the list.

You know, you could even follow up your e-mail with a prompt a couple of weeks later enquiring why you haven't heard anything instead of waiting 5 (five) years to have a pop on a completely dissociated football forum...

Or maybe the club are just absolutely appalling at communications in general?

I've had numerous personal experiences of the club simply ignoring me, (via both email and social media).  It feels like a constant theme where the fans are treat like dirt.

I have personally only ever had positive personal experiences with everyone at the club that I have dealt with. Whilst e-mail communications have been some what slow, they have always been dealt with. Though I always have a "if you aren't the person that deals with this, please can you forward on to the correct person". This shouldn't be needing, though in my experience with dealing with companies, this generally helps the e-mail get to the correct place.

Your e-mails may also be going direct into their spam folder so they don't actually receive it. As suggested before, try a follow up e-mail, phone call or, heaven forbid, pop in and actually see someone directly. If you book an appointment with the person you need to see, you'll get an answer.

Whilst I appreciate that gier was probably just asking for help, it is quite frustrating to see people wade in with a pop at the club.

In my experience in life, people generally treat you how you treat them.

Your experience certainly doesn't mirror mine and I find it slightly offensive that you insinuate  others are perhaps not treating individuals at the club with respect and that is why they aren't getting responses!!

Clutching at straws with using this excuse on their behalf. Being a business that receives random emails from day to day, they shouldn't set the spam settings so strictly as they'd miss requests re season tickets etc. You'd double check your spam filter constantly anyway being a business with paying public contact. And fans shouldn't have to send a follow up email, it should be answered promptly in the retail/entertainment industry. It's not like Geir's comments are a one-off and he's hardly local enough to pop in is he? Let's stop using getting excited about Jolley and the product hopefully we will see on the pitch as a blanket excuse for the club to operate badly. Surely we want our club to make improvements off the pitch as much as Jolley seems to be doing on the pitch. Fans constantly excusing the club for everything because we've got Jolley will do nothing to push the club to improve long term. We have to keep pushing and pressing for off field improvements and progression. Fans took the urine out of Fenty for his we do our PR on the pitch yet some are guilty of the same sentiment themselves. Two completely different elements of our club and should be treated accordingly or else the club will sit on its laurels and get nowhere eventually by doing the same things they've always done for decades. What was the JF excuse for poor service to a fan? The staff haven't had a pay rise for years!! It's that sort of mentality that's driving the club. Thank god staff nurses and head teachers haven't had the same attitude over the past few years regarding the performance of their nurses and teachers who've worked without pay rises. The service at GTFC is erratic (good and bad) at best and needs to improve. I think we can all agree on that, can't we?

Geir they perhaps think that being from Norway you are pointless.😀 Eurovision jokes apart all professional businesses should reply to emails within 24 hours and so the non replies to you are very unprofessional. I get about 60 emails a day, many which are junk and I mark as such but I always stay logged in all day to my isp's spam filter and if any genuine mail is trapped in there, I release it. I find Lisa Piggott at Blundell Park good at replying to email.

Thank you for all of your replies. I have now got  a reply from Mr. Fenty himself so everything will be fine now.
I would also like to thank Mr. Roberts from The Mariners Trust and everyone else who offered their assistance. This was not intended as a stab at the club, but if this makes the club check their spam filters in the future, I think it was worth it.

I'm not clutching at straws, I'm offering a reason for it to have been ignored. I know that my company has missed e-mails due to them going into a spam folder, its unfortunate but it does happen.

I'm also not suggesting gier pop in - I realise he lives in Norway and would struggle and was asking for advice, its the people that jump on his request to have a pop at the club that gets on my mammaries. I am more than aware that they can improve in many areas, though I find comments such as "You must remember that to work at GTFC the minimum requirement in some areas is an IQ no higher than the plant in Fenty's office" as being out of order. People may have a beef with a few individuals at the club but making statements like that are insulting to the majority of those at the club who work hard and devote a lot of time and effort that goes unnoticed and generally, unappreciated by most people.

Also comment "It is just incompetence of the highest order I would think" is just insulting as there could have been a number of reasons the e-mail wasn't received. The request could have been ignored as it wasn't received, you know, the e-mail address may have been typed incorrectly and assumed it had reached the intended recipient.

And the one that is also shite "I've had numerous personal experiences of the club simply ignoring me, (via both email and social media).  It feels like a constant theme where the fans are treat like dirt. " which is just easy to say without any foundation at all. I've had numerous experiences of the club being very attentive to my requests and can only say how good they are - the club is better with people like Sharon and Lisa there, I don't feel its fair to label them as being ignorant when they clearly aren;t and are GTFC through and through.

I could only reply to what you had written in your previous post Steffi. I agree with a proportion of what you say in this one as you have re mine about the need for improvement. I got in touch with a director about quite an important issue at the beginning of the year. Although no promises to keep me posted with progress, expecting at least a common courtesy, I've heard nothing since. Joined the Trust in January. To this day, still not received a single email from them either. I've run businesses with small teams that dealt with far more day to day requests from the paying public and a failure to reply promptly was regarded as a disaster. It all depends on the standards, structure and priorities that are set from the top..

What more foundation do you want than it's my own personal experience?  I don't know how deep your head is buried in the sand but there is a massive underlying issue where the fans are treat like dirt.  It's less than 12 months ago since the Accounts Manager accused the fans of bullying each other and a director told fans to shut up in a public forum.  Add to that the majority shareholder coming on here and throwing fuel onto the fire with his comments.

I'm pleased you have positive experiences with the club.  On an individual level there's some very good people employed by the club.  I don't blame them for one second, I've defended them before as not standing in a position where they can change the problem.  The problem is far higher up.

Case closed!
Up the Mariners!

Cheers!

Excellent stuff, I must say John has always been brilliant in regards to being available and has always replied to emails. He replies are in depth beyond the call of duty, we've had a handful of email exchanges over the years. I've found his other departments to be excellent as well. Ticket office staff excellent, Dale has always responded too. Occasionally they slip the net. I run a small business and I consider myself to be customer focused, on occasion I have missed emails somehow, it happens.

Second this in regards to John, like he says his door is always open.

Do we still have a Supporters Liason Officer?

You'd need to ask the Supporters Liason Officer

I have had dealings with JF and whatever faults he may have one of them is not ignoring you. There does seem to be a problem with emails though as I know the Trust were contacted and asked to look into an unrelated series of emails that had been lost/Ignored.People get frustrated and assume they are being ignored often wrongly. You speak as you find and my dealings with the day to day staff at GTFC have usually been positive and I include JF in that. Clearly when you see all the gripes in the past 2-3 seasons regarding PR and other things maybe some re training or dare I say a better more equipped for 2018 Overall Manager for the office?

Being GTFC through and through does not make you ideal for a job. Proper training and practice are much more relevent, it should be a standard practice of anyone employed to open Emails to check all Junk folders as a matter of course.
If it seems there is a constant where fans think are being treat like dirt, perhaps it is because this is how they feel they are being treat, and pretending they want to make this up is foolish.
What is a better definition of ignorant than repeatedly ignoring someone trying to contact you?

We all want GTFC to be the best club it can possibility be both on and off the pitch, last season was a disgrace on many levels, let's start this new one on a clean slate and look to the leadership of the club to forget the US and THEM mentality(especially when the THEM is their customers) and start following the example Jolley is setting with his positivity

Oh FFS! Not only are you making excuses you’re making crap excuses. You’re defending the indefensible. If someone emails you at work but it’s not your field do you just ignore it? If so please tell us the name of your company so we can avoid wasting time trying to do business with it.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
