Worth the risk for his quality and (young) age.  Goal-scorers are worth a bigger risk for their potential return.  Nothing ventured nothing gained.  Jolley is skilled in assessing risk v return.

Leicester took a risk with Vardy who was around 30.  The step-up in class was massive but the gamble paid off.

Really! if you are talking football where is your evidence, if your transferring it across from financial matters ie City trading, I put it to you from World wide travel and high status money affairs to treading through dog excrement around Blundell Park is more of a passion to do what he loves rather than a skill in risk and return

Looked like a really neat player last season. No point in worrying about his injury record or the risk attached to his signing. If he’s gonna get injured he’ll get injured. Look at Whitehouse - no injury concerns there and out for a season before kicking a ball.

Really pleased with this and shows great intent.

Vardy was 25. If that’s nearly 30 then I suddenly feel old.

What are the issues wthe Jolley’s judgement and a Vardy as a risk?

Vardy was a risk which no other top club would take on him.  He was unproven at anywhere near the top level.  Leicester took a gamble, which paid off handsomely.

Jolley showed last season  that he can get the best out of players.  Eg, Rose, Hooper and Summerfield.  He also brought Fox in that improved the team.

Slade was a very experienced manager who failed to get the players to perform.

Jolley said that he was impressed by Vernam when he saw hiim play last season.  This reduces the risk.  Unless you have serious doubts about the managers judgement generally?

The reference to his previous career should not be taken out of context.  It is just illustrative that Jolley should be a better manager  than Slade (not difficult) and has better judgement.  His results in keeping us up are testament to that.

Did someone have too much sun yesterday? 🌞

Not the point I was making, 25 isn’t nearly 30 particularly in the context of a footballer and because Vardy hadn’t had any injuries and was going up the leagues, not down like Vernam, I don’t really see any valid comparison.
