GS would certainly get a knighthood if we win the WC, but would a heroic defeat in the final, or earlier in the tournament, also qualify for the honour?

Nah

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Nah

Manager Alf Ramsey was knighted by the Queen immediately after the World Cup triumph in 1966. Winning then was a doddle by comparison. Lots fewer games. Home advantage. No VAR!

I meant nah to him getting a K if they don't win the tournament. It'll take more than just one heroic losers spot. Or should do.

I think it would take the win at this monet in his career for him to get an early knighthood

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

He could win the next three world cups as far as I'm concerned and there would still be people more deserving of a knighthood. Anyway the current honours system is a joke and not fit for purpose, pop stars, political lackeys, and sportspeople getting honours while people who save lives or spend years making a difference to their communities are ignored.

Please can you include a 'resign' option Rob?

True.

I wonder what amazing service Sir Christopher Chope gave to 'earn' his knighthood.

Well if "Baldrick"  can become Sir Tony Robinson it proves it's who you know (or who you're shagging) rather than what you know (unless it's what you know about somebody else!!). .
