It's an interesting one this. As it stands with Brazil winning and topping their group, there is a distinct difference between the top half (which we'd be in if we topped our group) and the bottom half (where we'll be if we come second) of the knockout draw.

I get the argument that momentum is important and that if you have aspirations of going far then you have to play top teams at some point, but already we're talking about a difference in average FIFA ranking of about 16 positions which is absolutely huge when statistically both halves should be more or less even.

Southgate seems like a man of integrity, but his talk of 'squad harmony' leads me to believe that he gets how real the potential advantage is here. I think tomorrow night could be a really weird game, with neither side trying too hard to win.

3-3 with the group settled on yellows.

Win  6-1

Sterling 5   Rashford

Can I change my prediction PP ?

Sterling not playing so can not score 5 from the bench

2-2 is my new prediction

Rashford 2.
