Well if Harry Davis signed in June 2017, he had a rubbish season and we have just given him a new contract!!

If Collins and Summerfield sign up, then its nice to have a squad of a decent size at this stage in pre-season

Just had a random look at a game with slade in charge, and the combined age of the starting 11 was 329, an average of 30

The above is combined to 261, an average age of just under 24.

Thats the big difference already IMO

I'd still like to see us lose Sam Kelly and perhaps Paul Dixon from that squad.

Kelly and Dixon not good en out. Dixon could probably return to the Scottish leagues, Kelly to the National league.

I’d like to know what MJ has told Dixon and Kelly in his meeting with them. I’d be surprised whether either are in his plans next season? I wonder whether they’ll be made available for loan or have been given permission to go and look for other clubs. It’s fair to say JJ Hooper’s performances towards the back end of the season has given him a stay of execution. He didn’t look capable of a shot on target prior to MJ let alone scoring a hatrick and winning goal of the season.

Could it also be fair to say that the 2 players people are saying we should "lose" from the squad COULD actually turn out to be competent players under MJ just like Hooper showed in the run-in? Not saying they will. But stranger things have happened.

It's also got me thinking. The number of people who say we should offload this player and that player when they're half way through a contract. Can we then complain when the roles are reversed and a Dembele hands in a transfer request and wants to do the same?

Just a thought. Loyalty a two way thing. We expect players to honour contract lengths but are often quick to want some to end early. Obviously there's reasons why, but is the principle not the same?

It’s not a fair shout at all if I’m honest. Let’s face it I was shocked at how poor Dixon turned out especially playing pretty much his entire career in the Championship and SPL prior to coming here. I think there’s a better chance of him ressurecting his career here than Kelly. I could see why we signed Dixon, but Kelly didn’t make the cut at Norwich and really struggled at Port Vale, never say never but I can’t see any glimpses of him that will make it at a Football League team, but like you say if MJ can squeeze talent out of Hooper then maybe i’ll stand corrected.

Is it not possible that Dixon is ok but was poorly managed by Slade?

I think it absolutely is a two way thing.

Any proposed end date on those who have not agreed extensions or new contracts?

It must affect Plans A & B not to have decisions in place !

Squad starting to come along nicely. Jolley seems to have pulling power and a lot of respect from players keen to join him great to see.

If they didn't figure in his plans then surely he would have announced that they would be put on the transfer list when he announced his retained list?
