Shall we wait and see how we start the season first. Yes, MJ deserve massive credit for turning around the mess left by Slade, but shall we see how we fare after he has had a transfer window to deal with and we see the fruits of the players brought in.

I'm all for giving MJ all the credit he deserves so far, but let's just wait and see how he fares bringing in the players for next season shall we.

I get your point Les and I suppose it gives some security if things don’t go well. But what if we don’t start well? By saying let’s not give him a longer term contract now I’m assuming that if we don’t start well you’d want a change? That’s kind of my point, im fed up of change now and would like to see a long term strategy. Also what is a bad start? I guess we’re at a point where nobody knows how we’ll get on next season, personally a mid table finish is progress enough for me as long as it’s clear that we’re “building something” (poor choice of phrase, I know).

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

It's all those posts by Ipswin, I think they've started to affect me.

No, seriously I do hope that MJ proves to be that appointment that we've all been waiting for for God knows how many years, the early signs are very promising but I'd like to see how MJ's team fare in the early part of next season before we start lauding him as The Messiah.

But it is that sort of shorttermism that has badly injured our club in the past.

It looks like we are doing what many wanted us to do. Encourage youngsters, be part of the community etc. Long term is what those things are about not the quick fix that you throw out after the first few weeks of the season.
It has to be the making of the clubs DNA not for the next few weeks or months but for years to come.
I am not expecting us to be challenging at the top of the table and would be quite happy if we stay up, play with the bravery of youth and give it a go.
We need this breath of fresh air to go on and on, whoever the manager is because IMO it is the only way for a club like Town to really develop and survive long term

Utter drivel. I for one will be expecting us to be challenging at the top end of the table.

It’s just a shame I can’t use the quote option properly when posting a reply.

It's not drivel it is called an opinion!

It is not to be confuse with wanting us to be top of the league but with those retained and signed so far, I suspect Promotion may well be beyond us.
Time will tell how we go but my point was about putting in foundations for years to come, not panicking if we don't start like an express train

Hopefully we will see Ahkeem Rose as the third youngster to come through next season, but after that is there anyone else we should be looking out for?

I would be quite happy if we stay up

Even if we are in the bottom three all season and stay up by drawing 0-0 at home to Morcambe in the last game?
