Gallimore will be rightly chosen, but a little mention for Connor Townsend, who might have been the best technically during the Fishy era.

Pound for pound one of the best players I’ve seen in a Town shirt in the context of the level we were playing at (Beasant, Oster and Todd the others in the mix), but ultimately he’s still yet to play at a level Gallimore played well over 200 times.

That in itself is a reminder of how good Gallimore, and in fact most of our team from that era, was.

Mate, I think it's because Gary Croft primarily represented GTFC as a left back in the period 1992-1996, and this isn't in the 'Fishy era'. I would presume this is why he isn't included, as he would indeed be the best 'footballer' in my view if he was. He did return briefly in 2005 of course, but I presume that Rob deems that period isn't sufficient to bring him into consideration against the other options.

He's doing it by squad number.

Gallimore, of course. A surprisingly capable physical specimen, despite his off-field antics generally involving alcohol. Could probably have played at a higher level without the booze.

I'll never forget his free-kicks around the box (which always hit the second man in the wall, around knee-height) and his penalty miss for Barnsley which prompted a refrain of, "We love you Galli, we do!" after he'd spent the rest of the game suffering dog's abuse from the Town fans...

Good point. I feel a dope. I retract my vote for Crofty. It's got to be Galli.

Besides, Crofty used to dye his hair

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
