Rotherham v Scunthorpe  19:45  Sky Sports
Come on you Millers.

Just realised it's the Europa League Final tonight  (Marseille v Atletico Madrid)  19:45  BT Sport

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

No great love for either team, but a Shrews-Millers final would be interesting, given Paul Hurst's playing history.

Peter Swann will surely get fed up of pumping money into the club shortly if they fail to go up yet again

His money will go further in League 2. It might pump prime a club at that level that might be able to generate it's own income to be more competitive at League 1, through a higher gate than say Scunthorpe.

After Marseille should've took the lead a defensive blunder by them changed the game........ Greizmann with 2 calm finishes for Athletico.

One of his horses won nicely today, he's spent well over £2 million on new horses this year.

Scunny could be candidates for a rapid descent to non league if Swann loses interest. Must be spending a lot more than they're bringing in.

Only 1,202 away fans travelled the 40 miles to Rotherham tonight. It is obvious they do not want promotion. Grimsby would have packed the place if it was us.
Poor support and now there is a rumour that the Chairman has finished and want to put his money in racehorses.

Neigh, not a good idea. UTM

PS: Come on Exeter finish the job tomorrow.

So they have one director doing the jobs of two of ours. The one who 'invests' his money in the club and the other who has race horses. That's efficiency.

The Mariners’ average away attendance of 671 is the 42nd-highest in the EFL, beating local rivals and League One side Scunthorpe United (534), and Championship outfit Burton Albion (502).

Town’s average home attendance of 4,657 is the 48th-highest in the EFL, which is better than League One sides Blackpool, Oldham, and AFC Wimbledon, as well as ranking higher than Scunthorpe and Burton again.

We took 1202 because that was our allocated amount. Quite a few Scunny fans were disappointed to miss out, we'd have taken more if more tickets were available, but Rotherham prioritised their own fans who they thought would bring sufficient numbers. Apparently it was the same for Preston North End when they played Rotherham in the playoffs a few years ago (how tinpot are Preston, eh? Tiny club them, unlike Grimsby, the Man Utd of Lincolnshire). If Grimsby were playing Rotherham in the playoffs this season it'd have been the same for you and you'd have taken 1200 for this reason. How about checking the facts before posting continued chest beating comments about sodding crowds? It's been thirteen years since we were in the same division, since then we've always been at least one division above you lot. That matters more to me than worrying over how many have a shared experience.

Touched a nerve there! You have to laugh, come on a rival's board and expect a fair assessment? I'm sure all Scunts fans are equally unbiased in their posts about us..Never mind son, there's always next year  UTM

Nah, not really, just pointing out the truths to someone who wasn't aware of the full situation before posting.

Anyway, I wish you lot luck for next season. I wouldn't mind you lot getting promoted so we can play each other again (Scunny-Grimsby is a more exciting prospect than Scunny-Fleetwood, Scunny-Burton or Scunny-Wycombe). It'd be great to have you in the same division as us for a while, so long as you're always below us and we're thumping you 6-0 home and away. One can dream.

Like you did in the 2 FA Cup games 0-0 and 1-2 to us I believe? Also glad you mentioned Man Utd once upon a time we filled there ground for them just like we do yours every time we visit. GTFC THE PRIDE OF LINCOLNSHIRE

Good luck to Scunny. They have had a long period of punching above their weight, just as we did, but it doesn't last for ever. Yo-yoing between leagues 1 and 2 is a fine achievement for a club with their fan base. Of course, they have had someone prepared to bank roll them for a while, and if he gets bored and leaves, there may well be a period of downward consolidation (fancy name for relegation  ) in their future. I hope we are playing them the season after next in League 1. No better feeling than turning over Scunny at Glumford Park. Actually, that's not true, turning them over at the Old Show Ground was just as good.

To be fair to our neighbours they looked a decent side going forward and caused Rotherham loads of problems. I liked the look of their forward-thinking players who played with pace and movement that I'd love to see us replicate. Plus, their goalkeeper looks a really good prospect.

I do agree that they've been really fortunate with the backing of a wealthy benefactor but they've spent well for the most part. It will all go downhill fast though if the money dries up!

I miss grounds like the OSG it had character and not saying this because I dislike Scunny but GP must be the worst of the new build grounds or certainly the worst by far I have been to? The OSG great away end and acoustics they got dealt a bad hand with that swap I hope Town don`t suffer the same fate?

They have also had some fairly recent either football fortune or good business decisions as a result of player investment.Martin Paterson,Gary Hooper,Sharp and Keogh that`s helped fill the war chest a bit.

One of the few (two!?) clubs whose attendances went down after moving to a new stadium (other one I can think of is Darlo), probably due to lower away capacity.

Also likely because of accessibility. One plus of the OSG  was its position although parking nearby wasn’t easy. I would imagine they lost some trade from people who lived in walking distance because getting to GP is a boring trek.

I'd agree with that..... until they reached Rotherham's penalty area. Their finishing was truly woeful.

Thank you Barra.

I'd also like to point out that i meant Yoyo-ing between Championship and League 1 is a fine achievement for them. Not League 1 and 2 as i typed.

I never watched the game but whenever i heard anything Scunny related on RH after the Saturday games, the consensus was that they played very well but didn't win a lot of the times. Sounds like they have no killer instinct.

Maybe you don't remember Jim Lumby and Kevin Kilmore turning us over at the OSG in consecutive seasons 77-78 and 78-79 - we'd sold one of them to Scunny and then bought the other one...they held us at BP both seasons as well.

Do us a favour and turn your web cam off. Lincoln took double what you took to Wembley for their first visit Scunt, and they were still over 5,000 short on what we took for our first visit. Scunthorpe the club with Napoleon complex. You may be above us for over a decade to come but you'll always be in the shadow of what we have achieved, anyway I didn't hear you say thank you for voting you into the league.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.
