Not sure if this has been posted on here, but a list of all clubs and how much the average wage is. Not sure how accurate it is though.

Well if that's true then considering we had a squad of 31 players this last season, if we reduced the squad to 20-22 we could be could increase that to between £1493 and £1643 per player which would make us very competitive in comparison to everyone else.

How do they know that's accurate? Ours is a little high for what I'd have expected and to see so many teams below us in that table is concerning.

For the 20 Premier League clubs, we took average weekly salary figures from the 2017 Global Sports Salary Survey. For the 72 EFL clubs, we looked at weekly wage data from the 2018 edition of Football Manager, taking an average of each team’s first team squad’s weekly earnings. The data from the game has been applauded on numerous occasions for its accuracy, and is even a recognised scouting system for clubs, as a result of their 1,300 researchers across the globe.

So I know these games are considered spot on when it comes to player attributes, but isn't the financial side just guesswork?

Hey, if you can't use numbers made up by a computer game to have a go at the club, what can you do?

(Not to say that our bloated squad last season wasn't a massive waste of money)

Looking at that...... how on earth do the the Barnet players manage to exist going on property prices and rents in London ?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

wonder if the average wage of fans is the average for residents in that area or if it is just the average of actual fans rather than residents.

I'm not saying they are entirely accurate, and there seems to be one or two anomalies, but the figures look fairly believable to be honest when compared from club to club and their respective turnovers and size of squads..

Barnet and Coventry look a bit low in our division, Charlton looks high and Leeds looks low, but then again they've got a huge number of young players that may bring their average down..

Town's wage bill is £2m, 30 players at £50k average plus admin staff wages? Doesn't seem that far off..

At least it gives us a league table showing how “competitive” our budget is

I think it's very misleading presenting such exact figures with no explanation for how they are calculated.

I think like a lot of your sensible posters on here have said it is rubbish. We probably have paid decent wages but we have the smallest squad in the league, which is hampering us now. An example is that Coventry have 36 players on their books. Someone said we had under achieved which is ridiculous we have just gone for a small squad of higher quality (Which I agree with). Clubs are much more transparent now, with FFP and have to release figures twice a year - Our chief executive said that based on this at the start of the season we had the 14th highest budget in the division, so we have over achieved, hugely. Its just we spent our money a different way. https://www.lincolnshirelive.c.....lincoln-city-1550127

City have made a good stab at putting a decent squad together, sadly we made a right hash of it this season, the worst I can remember. However if I was Jolley I'd be rubbing my hands together at the opportunity he has been presented with. More or less a blank slate in terms of players forced on him and with a competetive budget even at last year's levels. With very few big hitters, 3 automatic promotion places, and the 4 beneath judged as success of sorts it's a great opportunity for any manager to make his name in this division.

I agree, I think he seems a decent fella. He will need to make you an attractive proposition but there are plenty of decent players out there. I would certainly think you will be top half this coming season.

I am pretty sure we won't make it this year but with a few tweaks I can see us pushing for automatic the coming season. As you say, hardly any big hitters coming up or down.

It's the management team that's the problem - I suggest they go for a couple with more League experience - Slade and Wilko...

And the feck to Scunny and Bury pay on average £2.5k a week on pitiful attendances - how much cash can the Owner put under Financial Fair Play...?
