Let these Amond, Arnold rubbish go! We offered Amond a contract, he hasn't torn up any trees in the league since. Nolan had already agreed to go to a L1 club. We offered Arnold £25 extra a week, that's all and Lincoln offered him £200 more. Hurst saw Arnold as a squad player and he was deemed not good enough for Cambridge and Lincoln for league football. Tait was offered triple wages in the SPL and he's from Scotland and some of our "fans" racially abused and gave Toto dreadful stick for 2 years despite him now being a potential Championship defender next season!

I didn't omit anyone, they're on the link I provided as players who the club made contract offers to.
As Mariner_09 points out Arnold has proven (as he did before he came to us) that he's a Conference player. I really liked Nathan, I thought he was a highly talented lad with a great work ethic and he came across absolutely brilliantly. But 3 years on the bounce he was promoted from the Conference before finding himself farmed out somewhere else.
Amond we should have kept, there's no two ways about it. He hasn't ripped up trees at this level but he's better than anyone else we've brought in since. Hurst offered him a contract as early as January of that year, even though we didn't now what league we were in. Amond gambled that he could get a better deal if he helped us to promotion. That backfired so we gambled on getting a better replacement, which also backfired. Hurst still tried to keep him though.
Tait we no chance of keeping. Even if we broke our wage structure for him, he wasn't going to stay.
Toto and Nolan - two players he clearly felt were not good enough for League Two that he signed for his promotion chasing League One side.
I would have kept Clay, for no other reason than he was no worse than the guys we replaced him with. But that's not to say he's good enough for the league either. East and Marshall? Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

Not sure I understand the highlighted bit? Hurst would definetly wanted to keep both. He thought Toto was by far the best defender at the club but equally knew how Toto felt about the abuse. Sensitive guy, nothing wrong with that and he wanted to move on where he felt he might be more appreciated/loved. Nolan was offered a 3(?) year deal at a League One club. We were never ever going to compete with that

Let it go? For felicitations sake there are still twits on here wobbling on about ITV Digital, stuff Fenty got wrong 10+ years ago, Buckley, Woods and even the referee at the Bristol Rovers playoff final Losing Amond, Nolan et al was a) a bit more important and b) a lot more recent!

East Clay and Marshall
I note you conveniently omit those Hurst and Fenty allowed to leave without a fight by not offering a sufficient incentive to stay. Nolan (now doing absolutely brilliantly at Shrews) Toto, Amond, Tait, Arnold
You've come out with some shite before but my God that tops the lot

It was a tongue-in-cheek in response to Swin saying Hurst let them go without a fight, as in he didn't rate them enough for us but was happy for them to be key parts in his Shrewsbury side.

I understood it, Hurst probably did try everything to keep Nolan and Toto because he picks them every week in a side that are one step from the Championship. They both left for differing but justifiable reasons.

Toto looked outstanding in what I saw of those Charlton games. Think he'll be playing in the Championship soon one way or another.

Bearing in mind what a curse the Manager of the Month award tends to be, I'm putting my house on a defeat for the Shrews in the play-off final!
