He has had a great start to his football management career but it is too early to give him a longer contract. Let's see how he gets on with signings in pre season and then if we are in or near the play off places at Christmas then look at improving his contract. I also can't imagine he will be slow at coming forward for a better deal if things are going well.

The guy worked in the city, I am sure that he can sort out the right financial package for himself.

If things are going well he will know what his value as a manager is. It will be interesting to see if the club will meet or get somewhere close to his demands.

So Pete do you promise to demand that he's not sacked if we lost ten games before Christmas?

It suggests to me that the board are never confident in their selection capability/process and don't want a big pay-off situation. Other clubs, including some at our level opt for greater stability, notably Lincoln and more recently, Cambridge.

This. In spades.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

A few managers will be envious of Big Sam Allardyce's next payoff package - £8 million on the line for his remaining 12 months, now he has been sacked !

Big clubs - too much Sky money to throw around - look after your feeder clubs !!!!

Talking of too much money in the premier, Sanchez at Manure gets a weekly basic of over £300k plus £75k per appearance. Evidently. His yearly pay is over £20 million, if only I didn't have a paper round (Yosser Hughes)
