Town legend Josh Magennis in the Charlton team

I think we got him just after he converted from a keeper to a striker. Jake Kean arrived this season and looked as though he’d done the opposite.

Haven't got Sky so listening to it on talkSPORT2

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I'm afraid you have no idea what you are talking about.  Over 20 goals in a season, and a guy who gave 100% every match!

My opinion LJL = total excrement

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

LJL is the best target man I’ve seen play for Town. That doesn’t mean I think he was a great striker!

He was very effective with the ball at or below his chest but you are obviously too young to remember Gary Jones?

Ah Lump, what a wonderful player he was. If Jolley can find a striker of his quality this summer then we'll be in for a good season.

The usual extremes of opinions - thought LJL developed a lot with us. We got the most out of his relatively limited abilities and although he’d normally shank one great chance wide every game, he scored his fair share too.

Not seen a better target man/hold-up player than Gary Jones in recent times though. He was a very intelligent player- perhaps more so than I appreciated at the time. Looking back at the vids he always made the right pass/run/decision at the right time.
