Jamille Matt has been released by Blackpool........just saying.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Great winning goal against County. Good luck to him but his future is not at GTFC.

I don't think we should sign him.

Have to agree with most. He's not got the work ethic from what I saw of him. Plus we should try to aim for better if we are to be higher up the league next season.

Not suited to the passing game preferred by MJ. Enjoyed his Barnet and County goals though.

Absolutely not for me.

Brilliant that he got that winner against Notts County that ultimately confirmed our safety, but he was bloody awful when he came on as a sub.  In fact his performance in that game was more or less a reflection of his time here.  Not fit enough, not hard working enough, doesn't make use of his attributes (his size and power).

Of all the dredge we've had to watch this season, Matt was the one that angered me the most.  Whilst the likes of Berrett, Summerfield, Woolford, Vernon and Clarke got the majority of flack, I don't think I ever saw them not trying.  I only saw Matt look interested in one game.  For a guy of his size he should have absolutely dominated defenders, instead he was bullied by guys half his size and split his time on the pitch either panting for breath or moaning that he didn't get a foul against him.

In a season when we didn't have a striker come close to reaching double figures, or indeed threatening to do so, he was the worst striker on the books in my opinion.

It's a no from me.

But for his effort, and work rate, which IMO, he gave 100% all the time, he doesn't go down as a bad player for me, and I genuinely wish him well.

P.S, his last goal for us will stick in the memory for a long time

I wouldn't be too hasty in discarding all and sundry. We fans are notoriously impatient and quick to label players as not good enough. Most had decided that Hooper and Woolford couldn't be got rid of quick enough a few weeks back. I think Matt looked a right handful in some games earlier in the season but went off the boil for a while. Like Hooper, there is something there to work with and he could come good eventually. I'll reserve judgement on him and see what MJ decides.

difference is ginny that woolford and hooper have improved or looked different players under Jolley - matt seems to have gone backwards, witness his substitute appearance at Swindon

Going to have to disagree with this.

Whilst he hasn't looked much better IMO ,he certainly hasn't gone backwards.

Woolford & Hooper have improved because they are playing a different role more suited to them

I think Matt had some personal problems mid season didn’t he which will have affected him like it has plenty of others.

I think there’s a player in there somewhere but with those already On a contract ie Hooper and Cardwell, I personally don’t think we can afford to employ another striker who ‘might’ come good.

I appreciate that good strikers are like rocking horse doo doo but we have to be aiming for someone else imo

It's rare I disagree with you Ginny but I'll be really disappointed if Matt plays for Town again. Nothing wrong with his attitude so it pains me to say this but I don't think there's anything to work with. His first touch is terrible and aside from the 2 headed goals he scored, which were great, he hardly won another header at any point in any game.

If he were to sign for us it would take a massive drop in wages.
Fairly good source that us and Blackpool were splitting his wages this season.
I wouldn’t expect us to pay any more than we actually were.
Personally, I’d be happy to see him move on.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Will always be grateful to him for that Notts County goal, but as others have said, I don't think he's done enough here in the other games he played to warrant us signing him.

Good luck to him wherever he goes though, as long as he doesn't score against us next season.

He had his moment in the last game, I think a lot of people put in a shift for a contract for that game really. Thanks, but no thanks. Don't think he's particularly good at anything and most games I've watched him in I don't think he really made an effort either. I'd probably be a bit disappointed if we signed him because I don't think it's our best foot forward.

I can not believe there are people on here who’ve watched him lead the line in possibly the most ineffectual attack this club has ever had, scoring 4 times in nearly 40 appearances, who are telling others not to be hasty in getting rid.

This flipping club.

I just can't see MJ keeping him. For starters, he didn't pick him in the first place, and he wasn't a regular in all the Jolley games. Secondly, MJ has the whole of the market to aim for before Matt would be turned to. Thirdly, would Matt even want to stay?

People criticise JF for keeping appointing the same old people, but a lot of fans seem to suffer from the same problem of sticking with the familiar. Every time a player or manager is needed the cries for those known to us are often loudest.

Seeing as that was aimed at me, i will say that he has been somewhat the opposite of other players we have had, in that he was better earlier in the season and got worse. I'm sure he has had some personal problems and i also don't think he has been fully fit while Jolley has been here. I'm not advocating us signing him, just making a general point that sometimes, for various reasons we are not privy to, player's don't always perform as we would like. Jolley could possibly get a tune out of him, when others couldn't.

I don't know what the "this flipping club" comment is all about. It may interest you to know that the opinions of the fans count for fook all in player recruitment, even the opinion of someone as learned as yourself.

Definitely not. He is so slow to react it's unreal, looks like he is running in treacle. We can do better.

No he should not be retained, not very good in the air despite his goals against Barnet and County, looks really technically poor with a poor first touch and awful ball control. For his size he's not very strong, misses too many chances. By all accounts at Plymouth he was very good but these last couple of seasons he has been poor, he'll slip into non league maybe.

A target man the type of player who is more suited to the cowleys  style of play than what is our historical pass and move ethos .
