Just some info on dates and the transfer window changes for the 2018–2019 season.

Fixtures will be released on 21 June 2018 and the opening round of matches will be played on 4 August 2018. The league season is scheduled to end on 4 May 2019.

The summer transfer window will close five days after the start of the season, on 9 August 2018, following a vote by all 72 clubs in the Football League. However, clubs will be able to make loan signings until 31 August. Goal Line Technology will be in operation at this year’s Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two Semi-Final Play-Offs for the first time.
Quoted Text
When does the summer transfer window open?
To keep the window open for 12 weeks, in line with Fifa rules, the start date has been changed from 10 June to just a few days after the final games of the season 17 May 2018.

Clubs will be able to sell players until 31 August 2018 but they won't be able to bring in replacements after the deadline.

In addition, EFL clubs will still be able to:
  • Sign players on Standard Loan up to the 31 August 2018
  • Sign players on Standard Loan up to 31 August 2018 with an option to agree a permanent transfer when the next window opens
  • Register players who ceased to be registered with a club during the period up until 31 August 2018
  • Transfer players OUT to a club in any League whose window is still open

Cheltenham Town have signed Alex Addai on a one-year deal, starting from the end of this season >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44005132

The 24-year-old former Tottenham and Blackpool winger has spent the past two years with non-league outfit Merstham scoring 8 goals 3 tiers below League Two last season, after a spell at Whitehawk.

Am I missing something with Harry Pell? I've always just thought he was a non-league Peter Crouch playing in midfield but there's been a couple of teams fighting over his services the last 12 months. Didn't he almost sign for Blackpool in L1 in the summer?

They've got themselves a cracking player, glad he's left County. Makes them a bit more vulnerable.

I see that Drey Wright has turned down a deal at Colchester to move to St Johnstone. Wright looked a tricky little player and I guess it just proves that Scottish Premier isn't up to much but they seem to be able to pay more than League Two clubs

They get a lot more money than League 2 sides though. Even the bottom side get a million quid in prize money, in addition to other monies from various sources, so if they can work their way up the league, the rewards get better. Still a paltry amount compared to the English Prem mind.

True, I guess as a footballer if someone can offer you a 2 or 3 year deal at double your money or thereabouts it is worth considering. Especially as you get to play at Celtic Park/Ibrox etc instead of Morecambe or Lincoln.

Some kick on after such a move like Moult who is now at Preston whilst others return to a lower level

Scotland isn't producing the talented players it once did, so to improve, they have to shop around, and the lower leagues of Europe is their spending level, unless you are one of the big clubs. To get those players from England to move there, they have to make it financially attractive enough to make it happen. Suppose it's a gamble, like most clubs, speculate to accumulate. Getting from the bottom end of the league towards the middle, gets you to 1.5 million in prize money and the teams at the top end are nearing 3 million, so if a few players, such as our Macca can help them move a few places up the league, they will pay for themselves almost.

Yep, looks like confirmation on BBC Sport today, six figure fee, three-year deal >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44070175

Coventry City have signed Zain Westbrooke from Championship side Brentford on a free transfer. The 21-year-old midfielder has signed with the Sky Blues until 2020, with a club option to extend the deal by a further year.

Westbrooke made his only Brentford appearance as a substitute in a draw with Fulham in April 2017. He had loan spells with National League sides Solihull and Leyton Orient this season, featuring in seven league games.

£3m. That's about what each then Div 1 club (Championship) was due to get per season under the ITV Digital Deal all those years ago.

It's not a slave contract. It's like they sign a deal that if they perform they get a contract extension.

Bury have re-signed Nicky Adams for a third spell after his contract with Carlisle United ended.  The 31-year-old winger was offered a new deal with the Cumbrians, but will now rejoin the Gigg Lane club instead.

Adams began his career at Bury, making 94 appearances  and scoring 15 goals before a move to Leicester in 2008, and then rejoined the Shakers in May 2014 Nicky and played a pivotal role in the club's promotion to League One.  The following season with Northampton was a triumphant campaign for both the Cobblers and Nicky, as they went on to be crowned Champions of League Two with Nicky becoming the player to record ‘most assists’ across the league. He then switched to Carlisle and was their 2016/17 player of the season, scoring three goals with 14 assists as the Cumbrians made the League Two play-offs >> https://www.buryfc.co.uk/news/2018/may/nicky-returns-to-the-shakers/

Does this put them out of the running for Hopper?

Suspect they are going to be the League 2 biggest spenders now Luton have gone.

Biggest spenders? We started off last season with the 14th highest budget according to the figures. Am sure we will spend some decent money like most will but it won't be anything like FGR, Mansfield and numerous others.

Grow up and dont kid yourself you have atleast 3 from what I've been told are on big wages.....frecklington, Boswick and Green all on high wages for a league 2 club.  You made alot of pennies during your promotion season but just because you haven't  forked out on transfer fees doesnt mean you havent paid for higher wages and signing on fees.   See i know some people that work at Lincoln Ciry being a town fan that lives in Lincoln.

We had a small squad last season, think it was just over 20 players. Yes some will have been on a decent wage like Freck and Bostwick, but it's nowhere near the 30+ players that lots of other clubs will have had. Doesn't mean we are anywhere near the biggest spenders though. Think we will have a more competitive budget this season.

Cheltenham Town have signed Conor Thomas from from Indian Super League club ATK on a two year deal >> https://www.gloucestershireliv.....pool-swindon-1607723

The 24-year-old midfielder made more than 100 appearances for Coventry City and had a loan spell with Liverpool in 2011, but a hamstring injury halted a proposed switch. The former England Under-17 and Under-18 international moved to Swindon Town in 2016 before a move to India last summer.

Colchester United have signed Noah Chesmain from Championship side Millwall. The 20-year-old left-back, who had been on trial with the U's under-23 squad towards the end of this season, has agreed a one-year deal at the Community Stadium >> http://www.gazette-news.co.uk/sport/16250580.Colchester_United_make_third_summer_signing/

He made his Millwall first-team debut as a 17-year-old back in 2015, coming on as a late substitute in their 1-0 win over Bury. Chesmain has also had loan spells for Welling United and Boreham Wood, during his career.

Andrade was apparently the standout player in the division below last season so that's a good signing for the Gimps. I'd imagine he'll be getting paid a good whack in return.

Definitely started off the season with the 14th highest budget. No doubt that changed when Freck and Bostwick signed but to think we were the highest spenders in this league is not right. unlike FGR and Mansfield we don't have any money men bankrolling us either, the money earned was down to the FA Cup and Checkatrade runs along with bigger gate receipts and revenue earned.

Think we will have a more competitive starting budget this season though.

So the South African who put in money when you were in the conference in your last season, and then agreed to put in more (is my understanding) even though you had got the revenue from the cup run, is not a money man helping bankroll you?

Not a mega money man no, there was something like 100-200k a season mentioned for 4-5 years. It was going to supposedly be getting the infrastructure sorted when we had the very dark days of hardly any staff running the club. Not sure any of it went on player budgets, in fact the Cowleys had a lesser budget the conference season than when Moyses was in charge.

£350k per season.

In the play off it seemed Lincoln had more staff than subs on the bench

We have drastically increased off the field staff - Physios, performance staff and so on.
However we do tap in to the Universities a lot to enhance off field stuff.

I think it is fairly obvious we have cash, but Impish is right we went for 20 players (And paid them accordingly), as opposed to 30 mediocre players.
We will have a bigger squad this season though as too many were managing injuries and this highlighted our squad. We also have spent 1.3 Million on a very decent training ground for this level of football.

I would not be surprised to see a few leave either, rumours someone has activated Woodyards release clause - I for one would sell him, he is decent but if we want to move forward we need better. Arnold will go (Decent lad, but cannot cut it at league level).

Will be an interesting Summer I am sure for both clubs - I am delighted with our first signing, Goal scoring winger/Midfielder is what we have missed.

Not a transfer but Slade is clear favourite to become Carlisle manager. I'm actually astounded he's even in the frame for another FL job given how he fared here.

I bet Fenty has a self satisfied look on his face - " I have had whole squads cheaper than that..."

I wonder if we are ever going to get a marquee signing, perhaps as a thank to the fans for putting the millions more we have put into the club (and not asking for it back) or are we hoping Jolley can perform miracles with no transfer fees to be paid?

I'd rather he didn't spend another penny. Even better if he wrote some of the existing loans off.

I would prefer that scenario too but lets face it, he is not going is he? If he is staying, it would be good if he put proper investment in, without wanting it back above and beyond what he already wants.

I would still rather he didn't. It would just reinforce the grip he's got and give him and his fans a greater sense of being in the right. Granted he's not gonna write it off but every time we can reduce it is a step closer to saying adios.

Excellent signing for us, Played in Division 1 for most of the time. Played in League 1 PO final.
Was at Scunny on loan last year - 13 games whilst they were in top 3.
We actually got him from Millwall.

Excellent signing on paper I think is the phrase as you never know how a player will perform in your colours. Certainly remember Radio Humbersides commentary giving him the thumbs up so could prove a good signing. Let’s hope not eh 😄😄

Dunno why you're getting red-crossed for that post.

Actually I do, but probably for some stupid reason like you come from another town with a professional football club fairly close by.

↑ ↑ ↑ Harry Toffolo plays at left-back position and was released by Millwall without playing a game for them. He was at Scunthorpe during the 2016–17 season. Regular for Doncaster with 13 league appearances in League One until injury cut his loan spell short in December 2017.

Forest Green Rovers have signed Wales international George Williams on a two-year deal after his release by promoted Championship side Fulham >> https://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/news/first-team-news/2018/fgr-sign-wales-forward

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder or winger played 17 times for the Cottagers, although he spent much of the past two seasons on loan at MK Dons and St Johnstone. Capped seven times by Wales, he made his international debut against the Netherlands in 2014 and was part of their Euro 2016 squad that reached the semi-final. He's made a total of 53 league appearances, with no goals scored.

Yes I agree , on paper, you never know what is going to happen. We will sign O'Connor next, Notts County Captain. He lives in Lincoln, hopefully he will be good for us too. Was injured last year but they don't want him to leave.

I imagine that will allow Whitehouse to go as we only offered him a year - Whereas 2 years to almost all the other ones we want to keep.

Doesn't necessarily speak very well of FGR's new signing, despite his caps, that he's yet to score a League goal when he's considered an attacking midfielder/winger. That said, I don't doubt he'll be on a hefty whack to drop a couple of divisions. Vince obviously splashing the cash once again. Wonder how many managers he'll get through this year?

I read a couple of posts from FGR fans that this guy is on about 12k a week. Sounds a ridiculous amount but we all know Cooper likes spending lots of cash.

A couple of years ago he would have been a good signing. Smacks of trying to get the last big pay packet. D'on't blame him but we have been there so many times in the past I'd rather pass and get players in with something to prove

Not sure about that, some of the Notts fans reckon he has had a much reduced contract offer for a one year deal only. He is a very good player, we had him quite a few years ago and will be decent whoever gets him (injuries allowing of course).

Local option, I think he's going to you though. Only trouble with him is his weakness against getting injured again

not for me (even though i'm going against MJ, I know I know if we are in for him), I just don't rate him, and that injury will have an impact.  And probably asking a large wage like Freck & Boswick, and with his age, no thanks.

Stevenage have signed Emmanuel Sonupé for a five figure undisclosed fee from National League North side Kidderminster Harriers >> https://www.stevenagefc.com/ne.....-efl-13th-june-2018/

The 22-year-old, who plays on the right-wing scored 15 goals and made 7 assists from a total of 47 games last season. Sonupé began his career at youth level with Tottenham, but did not play a first-team game for the Premier League club during is two-year pro contract. He then joined St Mirren on loan and then Northampton. Sonupé has played for the England U16/U18 teams. He has electric pace which leaves defenders for dead and scores goals from long range, however, his weakness is failing to spot a pass (in turn failing to score) when another player is better positioned to score >> http://harriers-online.co.uk/khfc/13-06-18-news-snoopy-heads-for-stevenage/

Forest Green Rovers have signed Robert Sánchez on a year-long loan deal from Premiership side Brighton >> https://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/news/first-team-news/2018/sanchez-signs-for-fgr

The 20-year-old Spaniard goalkeeper made 15 appearances last season for Brighton's under-23 side in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, keeping seven clean sheets. Sánchez came through the youth team at Levante, before moving to Brighton as a teenager in 2015.

Grimsby Town signed Elliott Whitehouse on a two-year deal, following a free transfer from Lincoln City after turning down a new deal at the League Two side >> https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-know-grimsby-towns-new-1681110

The 24-year-old centre-midfielder who can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker (link) started out at Sheffield United, where he captained the Youth team that reached the FA Youth Cup Final in 2011.  Whitehouse had loan spells with York City and Alfreton Town, Elliott linked up with Notts County following his release by Sheffield United in the summer of 2014 but with first team opportunities limited at Meadow Lane he had a brief loan stint at Nuneaton before signing for Halifax at the end of the 2014/15 season. He made 30 appearances in the National League North in the 2015–16 season, scoring 13 times as Nuneaton fell short of the Play-Offs – after being deducted three points, they ended up just one point outside the top five. Whitehouse was called up to the England C squad in 2016, making two appearances and scoring one goal.

Whitehouse moved to Lincoln City for an undisclosed fee and made 34 appearances scoring 6 goals in all competitions as the Imps won the National League title in 2016–17, and secured their return to the Football League. He then scored the winner in last season's Checkatrade Trophy final against Shrewsbury Town at Wembley.  Whitehouse scored 10 goals in 77 appearances in all competitions for the Lincoln.

Lincoln sign former Boreham Wood forward Bruno Andrade on a two-year deal following his depature from the National League play-off finalists.

The 24-year-old set the National League alight last season, as he struck 22 times in 50 appearances during Boreham Wood's play-off campaign, including one at Wembley Stadium in their 2-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers.
Quoted from Limerick Mariner
Does this put them out of the running for Tom Hopper?

Suspect they are going to be the League 2 biggest spenders now Luton have gone.
