Andrade was apparently the standout player in the division below last season so that's a good signing for the Gimps. I'd imagine he'll be getting paid a good whack in return.

I can't see a Portugese player fitting in with all that gamesmanship malarkey.

A Portugese not getting involved in gamesmanship? Ronaldo? Mourinho?

We had a small squad last season, think it was just over 20 players. Yes some will have been on a decent wage like Freck and Bostwick, but it's nowhere near the 30+ players that lots of other clubs will have had. Doesn't mean we are anywhere near the biggest spenders though. Think we will have a more competitive budget this season.

A small squad yes. But come on, you were paying over £3k a week to freck and Bostwick

Definitely started off the season with the 14th highest budget. No doubt that changed when Freck and Bostwick signed but to think we were the highest spenders in this league is not right. unlike FGR and Mansfield we don't have any money men bankrolling us either, the money earned was down to the FA Cup and Checkatrade runs along with bigger gate receipts and revenue earned.

Think we will have a more competitive starting budget this season though.

So the South African who put in money when you were in the conference in your last season, and then agreed to put in more (is my understanding) even though you had got the revenue from the cup run, is not a money man helping bankroll you?

Not a mega money man no, there was something like 100-200k a season mentioned for 4-5 years. It was going to supposedly be getting the infrastructure sorted when we had the very dark days of hardly any staff running the club. Not sure any of it went on player budgets, in fact the Cowleys had a lesser budget the conference season than when Moyses was in charge.
