I think we will do a Newport next season, be more competitive throughout the season, and get Liverpool in the FA Cup or something.

I don't think there's any doubt that MJ will be here next season. The bigger questions is.. If MJ is successful and another club of a stature like Shrewsbury comes in for him.. has GTFC the right environment, infrastructure and leadership to fend off their advances? Sadly the answer is no, and that answer needs addressing because any success we have will only ever be short-lived. You only have to look down the A46 to see that Lincoln are building something quite different and not relying solely on riding on the coat tails of the Cowleys. Over here, it seems like our board's big plan is to pin their hopes all on Jolley's shoulders and that will fix everything. Well, one day in the future Jolley will be gone and what will we be left with then? We cannot switch our attentions off the bigger picture because we're excited about Jolley, because in the grand scheme of things, we'll still be a club that will end up going nowhere. One good manager in ten may delay our descent to the depths and maybe punctuate it with a promotion, but eventually, if our club doesn't change, our final destination will just end up being the same..

I certainly hope so.

I think Fenty has to move quickly to secure him on a long term contract. I think we have seen enough from the results and performances he has achieved with a squad we all though was totally useless, to indicate that he knows what he is doing.

The football against Notts County was the best I have seen for years at BP. Take a look at the highlights of the FGR game, see the flicks back heels and passing on show. It is unrecognisable from the hoofball we had to suffer from Slade.

Our most important signing of the summer would be Michael Jolley on a long contract.

A long term contract will not be forthcoming, I asked John Fenty this question after Notts game and he stated that he doesn't see any issue with the 6 month rolling contract and would continue down this route...

I would like to see what contact will be made from Jolley across to Burnley with them now being in Europe. Could we progress their up and comers?  Likewise his Swedish connection - winter weather should be no problem but fees might be for better players from their leagues. Guessing he will know their lower leagues for rising stars to note down and pursue.

So, retained list first to look forward to, hopefully McKeown an early signing, perhaps a couple of paid up contracts or loans out, then the big rebuild !!

From talking to other fans and away family fans, there is a huge feelgood factor to work with !!

Chance with a good start and bigger crowd potential for the Chair to slowly regain his loan funds alongside player investment.  Roll on August !!

They seem to be investing their windfall wisely, not just on players, but also securing the management team and they are planning to build a new training facility too. We just seem unable to progress things off the field.

It's always going to be like that though. The Cowleys will leave Lincoln for a bigger club done day, as will Jolley if he does well here.

The board have made some poor appointments, some good ones and some potentially good ones that didn't work out. Hopefully they have learned the lessons from the poor ones (which generally have been people who worked here before, or were already here in some capacity). Avoid them and we're always going to get some good seasons.

MJ will leave us but it will not before he gets us promoted,

He is an honest and open man who is pleased to be given this chance and to be here,

Don't forget he was and is the fans choice and he wants to do well for us and the board,

Fenty is his own worse enemy and always will be but up to Saturday he has kept from sprouting his usual rubbish and has been very quiet and invisible.

So John for the sake of everybody concerned go back into your shell and KEEP OFF THE PITCH !!

If fans are given banning orders for going onto the pitch then you should get one yourself seeing as FGR requested that nobody enters the field of play after the final whistle.

We should just be talking about how Michael has turned this club round not talking about Fenty again so lets all enjoy the summer watch England go out the world cup on pens and come back refreshed waiting to see what new team MJ has put together,

Onwards and upwards, up the mariners !!!!!!!

My point was nothing to do with good or bad managerial appointments Rob..

GTFC is one of the few clubs left that looks exactly as it did thirty years ago. If that doesn't change, our demise will be assured at some time in the future, just delayed by the odd decent managerial appointment.

I'm as excited as anyone to see what Jolley can do next season, but if in ten years GTFC looks the same as it does now or thirty years back, whatever success Jolley has will be irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. If our fans take their eyes off the bigger picture because Jolley looks an exciting appointment, they will be as culpable as the board who do not seem to have any plan at all as to how the club is going to progress off the pitch..

Lincoln will have a new training complex by the start of the new season and a few other bits of infrastructure in place. We've done nothing and we can't just sit back as a club and say that we can't do anything because we haven't had an FA Cup run. We can't sit on our laurels and hope Jolley can paper over the massive cracks..

There's two elements of the club still in play. Onfield seems like it's going in a positive direction, but off field we are still stuck in the previous century. It shouldn't be a case of onfield's going well, let's forget about the other..

It's going to be a long summer break constantly having to read comments like this.

There is no talk of a takeover except on this board. One poster posts it and it becomes fact. Then it becomes a stick to bash Fenty with.

Living within our means is called penny pinching on here. We don't have millions to spend so we don't spend it. Lincoln admitt that their new training facilities have been paid for by their cup runs. Had they not had them it wouldn't have been built. They made a tidy sum from the trophy that we boycotted.

As for player recruitment the board agree a playing budget and give it to the manager. He is the one that decides how it is spent, NOT the board. Every manager we've had under Fenty has gone on record to say that JF has backed them with money if they've asked for it. Jolley knows the financial situation and accepts it.

Roll on the new season when we can talk about football games again!
