Does anyone know what the crowd was yesterday ?
Also what is our average attendance this season?
I have a feeling that despite how bad we’ve been it’ll be higher than last season

I'd guess 7-800 lower than last season at home and about 30-40% down on our travels..

Since Jolley arrived, I completely agree. The support has been fantastic.

Before that, it was not. Yes, the results were poor and that affected the gate. But I'm talking about actually supporting the team, which was not the atmosphere at the matches, particularly at home, when I've been.

The board allowed Slade to churn out dire 'football' ( I use the term loosely) with no shape or desire by keeping him in the job when all but the blind could see he had no rapport with players or fans.
To criticise those of us who are desperate to follow their home town club when the reasons are clear and lay at the feet of your beloved board members is a shite wind up

Do you not think the atmosphere under Salde might have had something to do with the garbage on the pitch that we had to endure?

The crowds have held up pretty well considering the boring football Slade served up, and also taking into account the board's antagonism toward the supporters for most of the season. 4,500-5,500 is historically (I'm talking last 25 years) about par, even when we were in the Championship.

Recent games have shown that when there's good feeling around the club and those big occasion games (Opening day, derby games, Boxing Day, Easter), the people of the town come out to support the team.  Hopefully, this mini-feelgood factor (or to borrow Cod Almighty's phrase, Feel-slightly-less-excrementy factor) can spur a little bit of a boost in gates.

Medium term, if 5,500 with occasional 7,000s can be turned into 5,800/6,000 with occasional 7,500/8,000s (10-11,000 in a new ground), then that's a huge percentage increase and a good way to secure the fan base.

I'm not disputing that what was happening on the pitch was garbage. I just don't consider all the moaning that's been going on for most of the season to be "first class support". Support is getting behind the team, that didn't happen even when we were in a decent league position under Slade.

Look at how many marveled to away games this season whilst we where under Salde - That for me is getting behind the team. You buy a ticket you're entitled to an opinion in my view regardless of what that opinion is.

What do you expect people to do applaud poor performance and defeats?

You're not Marley are you by any chance? You seem to be using his kind of language. i.e. patronising and telling people to 'shut up'.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Weird that Macclesfield have won the National league at a canter and Stanley champions of League 2 on average crowds of 1600 & 1900 respectively

To be fair big following from both Chesterfield and Notts County helped but would still be over 5000 I believe without this so attendance wise pretty damn good given that only the Swindon and Notts County games have seen us play any quality football. Some of late have been tension ridden as we tried to stop the rot but the rest is best forgotten in what has been the worst L2 I can remember typified by Wycombe getting automatic promotion and Notts County in play offs neither particularly good sides and atrocious to watch.

And this comment underlines how the board and its supporters expects GTFC fans, "the ordinary people", to act, like brain dead lemmings, because that's how they portray them in their heads..

What you're forgetting Pen Penfas is, it wasn't entirely due to the garbage served upon the pitch by Slade. Bragate, the poor treatment of Kristine Green, Matt Dean and the Fan's Forum fiasco, condescending club statements, being called vile, bullies and being told to "shut up" had hell of a lot to do with the gates, atmosphere and patience too. Or have you airbrushed that lot from your memory?

All on top of fifteen years of the worst period in the club's history, broken promises regarding the new stadium and you still want to stick the boot into the fans.. it's a bit sickening to be honest..

The above post is precisely why it`s next Season`s gates that need to be the Club`s priority now.Yes the decision to release Season Tickets for sale now is a positive step BUT not nearly enough that announcement needed to go out with a statement and an apology for once again putting them through the mill due to terrible Manager decisions post PH.That`s done now what the Club MUST do is build bridges off the pitch. The fans want MJ signed up longer term and in my opinion he deserves that reward as do the handful of players we want to retain don`t faff about get them tied down.

Not weird at all.  Just shows how badly run the club is that we've had to endure a relegation scrap, (4th in the last 5 season in the Football League) despite the fact we have far greater resources available to us.

Wasnt comparing them with us but Stanley have outstripped Coventry and Luton with gates of 1900 and Macclesfield, up against Tranmere, Wrexham etc

I think once again, the fans have kept very loyal in the face of some abject offerings, on and off the pitch. Some of the stuff mentioned that has come from the club this season is dreadful, coupled with the absolutely dire "football" on the pitch. The word that has kept popping into my head all season has been "smug". There are now some posters on this board who are clearly aligned with the board of GTFC, and still they keep having a dig at the fans, the very lifeblood of the club. The fans have stepped up to the plate once again, backing the team to the hilt once we got someone in who we could all believe in. To think there would be no rumblings of discontent while we had to sit and watch the team being dismantled by a football has been, and his dreadful brand of football is just astonishing. Were we expected to sit there and "shut up" while we watched the incompetence all around us? The last handful of home games has shown what we are about as fans, backing the team loud and proud, when we see what we expect to see on the pitch.

Both clubs have got good managers that have been there for years,

I doubt either of them would have got promoted if Slade was their manager.

Just my opinion

Our fanbase is big enough to make our club one competitive in this division IF we have the right manager. Stanley not only have the right manager but are obviously good at spotting young talent and giving them a chance in the first team - which means they get a lower wage bill. As the manager admitted on Talk Sport 2 nights back it helps when you are located in the North West and surrounded by clubs like Man city etc. which helps them pick up lads who are good but not good quite enough for the Premier Leauge. It does mean they have to replace these lads regularly if they cant up their wages after a year or so to just stand still

We know MJ can manage. To be succesfull he must now show he can identify and bring to the club the quality players we need when we release those players who move on now.

Good start by the club getting season tickets up and running early. Also good by the club to get MJ to talk after the game to the crowd. Also good that Fenty has stepped back of late.. Let's hope its the start of better things... I'm not sure what peplke expect, yes I was appalled about bragate. I was there I knew someone who was 'a victim' but its gone now and just don't visit Stevenage ever again or take banners etc. I think the club could do some sort of statement with a small apology on Slade, bragate and asking us to back MJ  for the coming season to finish it.. I personally don't care about 1 but I know a few people are still waiting and annoyed.

Anyway, we're staying up. Things are looking good under MJ so let the good times roll!
