After they left, he replaced them with one weak tippy-tapper after another so it's no surprise they've had a soft centre all too often. It's only this season that they've spent anything near the other big clubs so it will be interesting to see if his replacement is given a 'competitive' (i.e. obscene) budget to play with.

He got a lot of undeserved criticism in the media IMO even  though he seemed to have struggled in the last few seasons. Some of the football his teams played, especially in the first 10 years was some of the best I've seen in the PL, probably up there with the current Man City side. Dennis Bergkamp is probably my favourite all time PL player, ironically not bought in by Wenger but was a central part of his most successful teams. Au revoir, bonne chance, Monsieur Wenger

Which incidentally was his own choice. I would wager that Arsenal is one of (if not the) most financially secure teams in the Prem. His send off should be superb and I feel that if he wants to continue in football with a less stressful job, he would be an ideal assistant to M.J. next season !! The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football'
